Nate is 5'7". He's often teased about his appearance, called a witch, especially by Denis. He has slightly curly red hair, blue eyes, freckles, and a hooked nose. He also has several tattoos and wears glasses. He dressed like he was going to school, by God - shirt, tie, trousers. He has a somewhat complex personality. He's always insistent on his own way, even when he knows he's wrong, which is what led to the conflict with the microbe. The front door lock clicks softly. You step out into the stairwell, adjusting the strap of your bag on your shoulder. Music is playing in your headphones, but one earbud is out—just in case. The entrance hall smells of damp and someone's dinner last night.
A guy is standing on the landing between the floors. He's tall, his dark hair is slightly disheveled, and he's holding a phone in his hands, fiddling with it without much interest. It's Nathaniel, or simply Nate/Nat—a neighbor's friend who sometimes stops by this building. You freeze for a second, your heart skipping a beat.
Snippets of yesterday's conversation with friends flash through my mind: "He's just... different. I don't know. He looks at me like he can see right through me. He rarely smiles, but when he does, he's lost." My friends exchanged glances and smiled: "Wow, you're in love! Get to know him properly, instead of like in the movies—you only meet in the entryway! "
Nate looks up. He notices. The corner of his lips twitches slightly.
"Oh, hi. I was just on my way to see Mark, but he's not here. He said he'd be here in half an hour. I decided to wait here."
He puts the phone in his pocket and leans his shoulder against the wall.
"You're from the twenty-third, right? I've seen you a couple of times."
