Moriyama lay on the bed in Waimak's apartment. After Kevin and Neil saved him from being shot by his own older brother, he hadn't spoken to anyone. He refused to eat or drink, talk, or allow himself to be touched. Kevin came to him with soup, cereal, tea - but Rico didn't react at all. He just lay there and wouldn't get up. He wanted to beat up all the "foxes" who tried to talk to him or feed him. He hated them. Because of them, he lost. Because of them, he was no longer a "crow."

Reg sat next to you, applying a cold towel to your forehead. “Sometimes a doctor needs a doctor himself,” he said quietly. — You have a high temperature. Why didn’t you take a rest?

Your older brother was late for work. Because of this, his boss came straight to your house. You distracted him while he got ready. A minute, then three. Your brother looks out the window, shouting, "Just one more minute!" The man rolls his eyes, and you ask, "Are you going to fire him?" "I will," he answers without hesitation. But his gaze instantly returns to you and he adds, "Let's go for a walk sometime? If you agree, I'll forgive him."

You were traveling with Rika, Reg, and Nanachi.
During the journey, the group split up. You went with Rika.
Later, Nanachi found Mitty, sniffed Belaf's smoke, and fell asleep.
Later, you and Rika find them, and Belaf asks for a ransom, not for things, but for Rico.
But then... Belaf sees you and offers you to give yourself to him forever in exchange for the freedom of Rico, Mitty, and Nanachi.
What will you choose?
Layers of the Abyss
What they look like and what is special about them:
Layer 1: The Edge of the Abyss (0–1350 m). The highest and relatively safest layer. Located directly beneath the city of Orth. The environment is stable and sunny, with numerous rock depressions and petrified trees. The fauna is mostly harmless. However, mild dizziness and nausea may occur during the ascent. This is also where Reg is found at the beginning of the story.
Layer 2: Tempting Forest (1350–2600 m). The first truly dangerous section. The vegetation becomes denser, and dangerous creatures appear. There's a special zone called the "Upside-Down Forest," where trees grow upside down, and the wind and even water flow upward. As you ascend, the symptoms intensify: severe nausea, headaches, and numbness in the limbs. This is where the Seekers' Camp, a rest base for explorers, is located.
Layer 3: The Great Rift (2,600–7,000 m). This is a sheer cliff approximately 4 km high, making travel very difficult. Prospectors often use the cave networks surrounding the main shaft. In addition to the physical difficulties, symptoms here include visual and auditory hallucinations. Dangerous creatures, such as crimson cleftjaws, are encountered.
4th Layer: Giant's Cups (7,000–12,000 m). The landscape resembles a humid jungle, with giant concave plants ("flat crawlers") that collect water from the air. The Garden of Perseverance Flowers (Field of Eternal Fortune) is located here—a beautiful but dangerous place. Among its inhabitants are poisonous "ball piercers" (porcupine-like creatures). Upon ascending, adventurers experience intense pain throughout their bodies and bleeding from all orifices. Nanachi also resides in this layer.
5th layer: Sea of Corpses (12,000–13,000 m). The thinnest vertically, but the widest horizontally. It looks like a sea filled with monsters, with isolated crystallized areas held in place by a layer of thick, slimy water. This is the last layer from which one can still return alive after ascending. Here, Bondrewd and his followers (the Praying Hands) established
Abyss
What is the Abyss in this world?
The Abyss is a huge vertical opening in the Earth's crust. It is located on the island near which the city of Orth grew. The Abyss is approximately a kilometer in diameter and at least 20 kilometers deep (and its ultimate depth remains unknown). It is sometimes called "the underworld," and there is a theory that it is divided into nine layers—by analogy with Hell in Dante's Divine Comedy.
The Abyss harbors its own unique ecosystem: dangerous creatures live there, unusual plants grow there, and the remains of an ancient, highly advanced civilization remain. A mysterious Force Field (Nanachi calls it "the blood of the Abyss") extends throughout the Abyss—it sustains life by transporting light and nutrients even to the deepest layers. But there's a dark side: the deeper the seekers descend, the more severe the consequences upon ascent—bleeding, organ failure, loss of consciousness, and, in extreme cases, the loss of humanity. Therefore, seekers are divided into ranks (marked with whistles) based on their ability to survive.
What is the plot about?
The main character is twelve-year-old Riko. She lives in an orphanage in Orphe and dreams of becoming a brave explorer like her missing mother. One day, on the upper level of the Abyss, Riko discovers a strange robot boy, Reg, who has no memory of himself but clearly came from the depths. Riko receives a message from her mother: "I'll be waiting at the bottom of the Abyss." Riko decides to join Reg on a dangerous journey to unravel the mysteries of the Abyss and find her mother. Along the way, they are joined by another heroine, Nanachi.
Belaf
Who is this?
Belaf is one of the Three Sages of the village of Ilblu (Iruburu). He was formerly human and part of the Ganja suicide squad, which searched for the Golden City at the bottom of the Abyss. He served as the expedition's chief interpreter and translator between the native inhabitants of the Abyss.
Appearance
Belaf has a complex and frightening form:
In its current form, it has a long, centipede-like body and a flower-like head. Its face appears to have two empty eye sockets, but in reality, these are mouths from which proboscises protrude—they feed and speak.
When he was human, he was tall and thin, with tousled silver hair, light blue eyes, and a large scar across the left side of his face.
Important moments in history
Due to illness and a lack of clean water, the members of Ganja's detachment were forced to eat broth made from Irumyuy's children to survive. Upon learning the truth, Belaf suffered a severe psychological crisis and was tormented by feelings of guilt for a long time.
He later sacrificed part of his body to help revive Mitty.
In the finale, Belaf dies at the hands of Faputa, but manages to convey to her the memories of her mother.
In its form, it can release intoxicating pheromones.
