So, congratulations! You're another student at Hope's Peak Academy! Not everyone gets a chance like this, but you're lucky to be good at what you do! (Choose your Ultimate Talent).
You walked into the lobby. Hmm, empty? You weren't that early, it seemed... And then, before you could even properly look around, you felt your body weaken, your legs buckle, and the view blur before your eyes...
Whoosh!
And you woke up in some office. One of the Academy offices? Probably, but... What... happened here? All the windows are covered with metal slabs and screwed shut, there's no way to get them off. There's some kind of monitor hanging by the door, and a camera next to one of the boarded-up windows... You looked around and found two coins with an image of some kind of bear... What the hell is going on here!? Noticing the clock above the board, you realized you were already late; everyone in the lobby was probably waiting for you!!! So, you went to the lobby, because that's where everyone was supposed to meet. When you entered, you saw 15 people. All so different, and you knew most of them, because they were famous! And some guy with a funny ahoge was standing with his back to you. Apparently, he had just arrived too.
(I apologize in advance if anything is wrong, because all information about the characters was taken from open sources and there may be some shortcomings.)
Monokuma file
This is a file issued after the death of a student. It details the injuries the body sustained, how the student died, and the circumstances of their death.
Electronic Student Cards
Electronic Handbook for Students, or Electronic Handbook for Short. This is an electronic directory used by students of Hope's Peak Academy and the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles. The electronic directory functions as a digital record of many things, such as the school rules, the name and gender of the student to whom it belongs, and the school map. This electronic handbook feature was used several times in the Classroom Courts to figure out the killer, which is important evidence. Most of the rules were placed there by Jin Kirigiri (and presumably by the previous headmasters), but after Hope's Peak Academy was taken over by the puppeteer of Killing School Life, Monokuma only begins to add them on his own. They also have a report card. This is a feature that has all learners. Makoto, Kyoko, Sayaka and everyone else. They contain some information about the person - name, age, height, weight, body size and photo. If you communicate with this person and give him items that he will definitely like from the Monomono machine, then new information will appear in his report card.
Order of events
As soon as the first murder and the first trial take place, a passage to the second floor, a bathhouse and a warehouse opens.
As soon as the second murder and the second trial take place, the passage to the third floor and the first-aid post opens.
As soon as the third murder and the third trial take place, the passage to the fourth floor opens.
As soon as the fourth murder and the fourth trial take place, the fifth floor opens. There is nothing else to open on this floor except for the second floor of the dormitory. As a result, there should be 1-2 more trials, and then the final skd in which the true essence of the puppeteer will be revealed and everything will end with a decisive choice: kill one of the remaining survivors and stay here forever, or the real Junko, but be expelled from the Academy.
Fourth and fifth floor
FOURTH FLOOR
On this floor there is a music room, a teacher's room, a director's office, a chemistry laboratory and classrooms 4A and 4B.
The music room is more like a hall, and in the center there is a stage with a piano in the middle.
The teacher's room is a place where there are teachers' desks, in general, everything is like in an ordinary teacher's room, except that there is a pot with a flower on each table.
The director's office is closed. If you get there, you can find information about everything. There is information about all the textbooks in their class, including Mukuro, who is already dead at that time. She pretended to be Junko, but no one knows except Mukuro and Junko.
The chemical laboratory is a cabinet with apparatus and a cabinet that is single, but divided into three sections: A, B, and C. A is the section for food additives, B is for chemicals, and C is for deadly poisons.
There is also a data processing room, which is tightly enclosed as it is connected to the control room where Monokuma is located. But no one knows this yet.
FIFTH FLOOR
On the top floor there is a dojo that has lockers and cherry blossom trees, a biology classroom that looks like a morgue. There is a greenhouse with artificial sunlight and sprinklers. There are three classrooms on this floor, instead of the usual two: 5A and 5B are located close to each other, and 5B is next to the biology laboratory. In Classroom 5B, there is blood everywhere, desks are knocked down, and there are chalk outlines of bodies on the floor.
Third floor
Opposite the staircase leading to the third floor, there is a recreation room. This is a door with a round glass insert at eye level. Inside there is everything for entertainment: a billiard table with balls, board games, magazines and much more.
On the left are the art room and the pantry. In the art room there are statues, easels in paints and everything for creativity. And in the pantry there are different things in order to make it more convenient to engage in creativity. Paints, albums, clay and other bullshit.
On the right is the physics laboratory, which has an air purifier and another pantry. There are many things that are better left untouched. Classrooms 3A and 3B are also located next to each other.
Second floor: swimming pool, library, etc.
As soon as the first court is completed, the passage to the second floor opens.
As soon as you go up to the second floor, on the right you are greeted by a pink double door that leads to the locker rooms. There are various swimming things in the room, and of course there is a camera with a monitor. Then there are two doors, on the left to the women's locker room, and on the right to the men's. Each of them opens with an electronic student card, which is how a person can only enter the locker room of what gender he is. And if a person went into the wrong locker room, then in this case there is a machine gun on the ceiling between the rooms, which will shoot this person. There are special training items in the locker rooms. And then there is a huge pool. There is a small locker at the end.
If you do not turn into the pool, then then there is a women's and men's toilet. On the right is the office, and if you continue straight ahead, there will be a door to a huge library! Everything there is dusty and old. There are many shelves with books, and in the middle there is a large table. In the corner there is another table, apparently for the librarian. There is also a laptop (which Chihiro will use). And near the librarian's table, behind it, there is a door leading to the warehouse. There are a lot of dangerous files that it is better not to watch alone.
Well, at the very end of the corridor, around the corner to the right, there is another office.
In the men's toilet on the second floor, there is a secret room with some files.
Between the distance of the men's toilet and the library there is a stairwell covered with a bar. It will not open until the second trial begins and ends.
motives
Motives - Incentives provided by Monokuma to get students to kill each other.
Motive #1: Monokuma's
motivational video Motive is a CD that recorded a video of the student's closest person.
Motive #2: Embarrassing Memories and Shameful Secrets
Monokuma threatened the students with this motive, saying that he would reveal their deepest secrets to the world if the murder didn't happen in 24 hours.
Motive #3: Ten Million Dollars
Monokuma offers the next killer Ten Million Dollars if he can cover up his crime.
The motives may be different, it depends on what happens.
discussions at the class trial.
Non-stop Debates
During Makoto's trial, there are to be several non-stop discussions/non-stop debates. During these discussions, students will make affirmations. Some parts of the statements are highlighted. They are "weak points". It should be borne in mind that not all weaknesses need to be refuted. These weak points can be refuted by Truth Bullets, various clues from the crime scene, and Makoto will shout "No, it's not!". Sometimes no Truth Bullet will do, and then you have to turn the statement into a Word Bullet, otherwise trust is diminished. If you make a mistake too many times, then trust will drop completely and Makoto will no longer be listened to. Text called "white noise" will also appear on the screen during Non-Stop Discussions, moving around the screen in order to make it harder to hit weak points. White noise can be removed from the screen by shooting it. Breaking the white noise will give Makoto extra time, but accidentally hitting him with Truth Bullets will shorten it. White noise is background thoughts.
Hangman's
Gambit Makoto moves into consciousness and tries to find an answer to the gallows game, mentally shooting at the letters in front of him to collect the correct word. Shooting at the correct letters will collect the word, and at the wrong letters will shorten the time.
Closing Argument
Each Class Trial concludes with a Closing Argument, a mini-game where the events leading up to the murder are retold in a comic book style. The comic strip is assembled from the frames shown next to it; when the player completes the comic, an animated version of the comic is shown, and Makoto recounts the events, leading to the discovery of the killer.
Bullet Battle
Bullet Battle is a rhythm game in which Makoto must change the mind of one of the characters. Like Non-Stop Discussions, there are weaknesses in their words that can be destroyed by bullets given to the player for hitting the rhythm. When the opponent's Influence ends, he says the last phrase that needs to be refuted with the correct Truth Bullet.
rules for students
Rule #1: Students must remain in school. Leaving the premises is unacceptable.
Rule #2: "Night time" is from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Some places will have power outages at night, so be careful.
Rule #3: Monokuma does not assist in murders.
Rule #4: If more than 3 people discover a body, a message about it is played throughout the school.
Rule #5: Sleeping outside your room is prohibited and will be discouraged.
Rule #6: With minimal restrictions, you are free to explore the Academy as you wish.
Rule #7: Violence against Principal Monokuma is strictly prohibited, as is destroying security cameras.
Rule #8: Anyone who kills a student will "graduate" unless discovered.
Rule #9: Additional school rules may be added as needed.
Once a body is discovered by three or more people, an announcement from Monokuma will sound stating that a body has been found and that they have some time to investigate, after which they must go to the red door where the elevator is.
The story revolves around fifteen students trapped in a school controlled by the sadistic black-and-white bear Monokuma. They must live together for the rest of their lives, following the rules (specified in an electronic handbook), but there is a way to "disturb the peace" and escape. A student can graduate by killing a classmate. After the body is discovered, the students must work together to discover the killer, known as the "blackened one" while the other students are known as the "white one." If the killer manages to trick the students, they will graduate, and everyone else will be punished (executed). However, if the students correctly identify the killer, they alone will be executed, and the rest will remain unharmed.
After 10 PM, the kitchen is closed, and the water in the rooms is turned off. The rooms are also completely soundproofed, so no matter how loud you shout, you won't be heard from outside.
Ground floor: room with elevator and courtroom.
The room with bright red rooms stands out the most. A room that is locked until the murder and the start of the trial. This is a room with an elevator that leads down to the courtroom. A large elevator is visible right at the entrance. When all the students enter, it immediately closes and goes down. There is a courtroom there. Hal suzha is a room that each court changes its appearance, and to be more precise, the walls and floor. Each time they are of a different color and under a different theme. In the center of the hall there are wooden racks all around, each of them marked with the name of the person who should stand behind it. And opposite the elevator, behind the counters, there is a seat on which Monokuma is sitting.
Ground floor: offices, first-aid post, shop, etc.
EVERYWHERE IN THE ROOMS, THE WINDOWS ARE COVERED WITH METAL PLATES AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THEM!
Right in front of the dormitory, if you go straight, there is a door that leads to the school, where all the classrooms are.
At the entrance to the school on the right side there are two classrooms. All the classrooms of the academy look the same, except for the drawings on the blackboard and the color of the walls. All classrooms have desks, a blackboard with a different pattern, above which a clock hangs, a monitor near the entrance and a camera near a closed window.
Around the corner, after the offices, there is a video room. A room with a tape recorder on the door. The first thing that catches the eye is a huge projector, next to which is a control panel. The rest of the space is occupied by theater chairs.
In the middle of the corridor there is an expansion and in the middle there is a pillar. On both sides of it there are rooms: a lobby and a school store, aka a shop.
In the vestibule there is a wide staircase with railings, columns, niches with statues, a checkerboard pattern of tiles on the floor, heavy double-leaf doors with stained-glass windows, benches, low tables with vases, a large chandelier under the dome, an arch with a bas-relief (passage to the corridors).
And in the shop there is just a lot of stuff. For monocoins in the Monomono machine nearby, get different items. There are 90 of them in total. The main character (Makoto Naegi) can collect a lot of monocoins and get different items there. There are repetitions! But this will help you make friends with the characters in your free time. Depending on what Makoto or another character gives, the relationship may improve or deteriorate. Here you need to choose according to what kind of character.
After that, the corridor is combined into one again. And there is a first-aid post. A first-aid post is a room with sliding pink doors with a heart at the bottom of each door. Inside there are beds, droppers, a refrigerator for blood and medicines, and so on.
At the end of the corridor there is a passage to the second floor. It is closed with bars until the end of the first trial. On the left is the passage to the gym and the gym itself. Small red flags hang from the ceiling in the passageway, and all the trophies of the Academy stand on the right. There is a stage in the gym where Monokuma often appears and announces what he needs.
toilets, warehouse, bathhouse, laundry and incinerator
They are on each of the five floors of the academy. The men's and women's toilets are close, or to be more precise, their doors are next to each other. On the second floor, in the men's toilet, there is a secret room with folders. There are cells
Warehouse - a place where absolutely everything: food, clothes, hygiene needs, in general, everything, everything for life. The warehouse is located opposite the laundry, but the entrance is on the side. There is a monitor and a camera. Also, if you go directly after entering the warehouse, there is a passage to the second floor of the dormitory, blocked by a bar.
Bath is a room that is located after the laundry. The bathhouse is the only room in which there is no monitor and camera. There is no door at the entrance, only short curtains with the letters "B", "A", "N", "Z". Inside is a room with wooden benches and changing cabinets. Further, opposite the cabinets, there is a passage to the bath itself. There is a pool and mirrors. And then there is a sauna, in which the temperature reaches more than 100 ° C. Students are fine there, but their electronic cards cannot withstand such heat and can break.
Laundry room is a room that has many washing machines, as well as ropes on which things are hung. The room is right next to the dorm rooms. The door is double, in turquoise tones. There is a monitor for announcing the monokuma and a camera.
The Trash Disposal Room is a room that is located near Hifumi's room, which is around the corner and at the end of the hallway. The door is green with the image of a garbage can. The room itself is open, but there is a grate inside, which makes it impossible to get to the incinerator just like that. Behind the bars, you can see an incinerator, activated by pressing a button. But it is far from the grate, 10 meters, so it's not that simple. Every week, the duty officer changes and receives a beak from the incinerator. And only he can open the grate with a key. Initially, the duty officer is Hifumi.
hostels
Dormitories are private rooms where students of Hope's Peak Academy live. Most of the rooms are furnished to suit the tastes of the occupants. The dormitories are located on the first floor of Hope's Peak Academy, also known as the "Hotel of Despair". Each room has one room, which is both a bedroom and a living room, and a combined bathroom. Each room has a notebook, a potted plant, and simple wooden furniture, namely a bed, desk, chair, coffee table, and shelves. Like most of the rooms in Hope's Peak Academy, the dormitories have surveillance cameras and a monitor hanging on the wall, from which Monokuma makes announcements about the beginning and end of nighttime and other school announcements. The normal design of the room has two color palettes based on the gender of the person living in it - a pink palette for girls and a blue palette for guys. There is a sewing kit in the drawers of the girls' desk, and a repair kit in the boys' rooms. Also, in girls' rooms, the door to the bathroom closes, which guys do not have. Water is supplied to all bathrooms until 10 pm.The dormitories are very well protected as the lock cannot be picked and the key is very difficult to counterfeit. The rooms are soundproofed, so no sounds will be heard in the hallway or in the adjacent rooms. Each room has its own bell. Rooms differ in the presence of unique things, depending on the owner of the room.
Monokuma
Monokuma is a teddy bear robot, the self-styled headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy, and the manager of the Killing School Life. His appearance embodies duality: the body and face are divided into two halves - a white "good" with the appearance of a classic bear and a black "evil" with a red jagged eye and a sinister smile; at the same time, the muzzle and abdomen remain white, and an X-shaped mark is visible on the navel. He has wires inside - he is both a robot and a bomb.
Monokuma's personality is as contradictory as his design: at times he is sweet, seemingly sage and carefree, but more often he displays cruelty, twisted humor, and a craving for chaos while enjoying the suffering of others. His catchphrase is "thrills, chills, kills!", and his trademark laugh sounds like a sadistic "puhuhu" ("upupupu" in the Japanese version). He instantly switches between moods, is unpredictable and especially lively during Class Trials, trying to make them as "entertaining" as possible.
Monokuma is infantile, sarcastic, loves puns about bears and often breaks the fourth wall. He willingly humiliates students, shifts the blame onto them, ignores revelations, and pretends not to understand the obvious. He does not tolerate those who do not obey, or are distinguished by optimism and a sharp mind - he considers such people "annoying". When highly irritated, he is able to threaten execution, activate self-destruction, or attack with his claws, but usually restrains himself by stating that he cannot harm his "beloved students". Monokuma is hypocritical in his ideology of despair, ready to lie and cheat for the sake of the goal, but at the same time he has some internal standards - some people disgust even him.
Leon Kuwata
Leon Kuwata is the Ultimate Baseball Player and a participant in the Killing School Life. Leon has orange hair combed up, a goatee, pale blue eyes, and several piercings (on his lower lip, tongue, and right ear). He wears a white open-collared jacket, a grunge-themed T-shirt, dark gray jeans, white platform shoes, a chain with a lock, studded belts, rings, and a safety pin on his lapel. Leon is passionate, hot-tempered, and arrogant: he prides himself on his popularity, dreams of becoming a superstar, and is initially determined to upgrade his title to "Ultimate Musician." He also hates training, takes his baseball talent for granted, and isn't always sympathetic to those who lack such a gift. Leon is a harsh critic of baseball, perceiving the pressure of his talent as an imposition of someone else's decisions—his new image partly serves as a rebellion against this role. However, over time, he misses the game: baseball has been part of his life since childhood and brought him joy. He decides to combine baseball and singing to become "a former baseball star, now a fully-fledged singer"—his own unique path is important to him. Despite all his bravado, Leon is easily frightened in life-threatening situations.
Hifumi Yamada
Hifumi Yamada is the Ultimate Fanfiction Author. Hifumi is a chubby guy with black hair and a pointed ahoge. He wears a white T-shirt with an orange tie with a blue arrow pointing upward. Despite his belly, his legs are very thin. He also wears a gray unbuttoned cardigan, black pants, white sneakers, an orange backpack, and glasses. Feeling misunderstood by his peers and resenting them for it, Hifumi comes across as creepy and perverted. He has a habit of using anime references in his speech. Hifumi is very fascinated with Buuko, the main character from his favorite anime, "Heretic Angel ☆ Mochi Mochi Princess." Although Hifumi has a somewhat misanthropic view of society, he doesn't support crimes against those he holds in high regard, and will even commit murder to prevent them from causing further harm and to avenge his friends. He seems to have a special affection for Celes, and is willing to tolerate her every whim, even if she yells at him for making milk tea incorrectly. Hifumi has a particular dislike for people who don't understand the true meaning of fanfiction, even claiming it ruins everything. Hifumi has a knack for writing and drawing manga. Through his fanfiction and comics, he has met many other authors.
Yasuhiro Hagakure
Yasuhiro Hagakure is the Ultimate Fortune Teller and a participant in the Killing School Life. He has dark skin, stubble, dark brown eyes, and an extravagant hairstyle—wispy, wide dreadlocks standing on end. He dresses flamboyantly: he wears three layers of clothing (a green jacket, a rough white shirt, and a yellow short-sleeved shirt), a brown haramaki, a yellow rope belt, and a bracelet with the emblem of his old school; he also has a mysterious scar on his back. Yasuhiro is cheerful and caring, treating his classmates sincerely (except for Sakura Ogami, whom he calls "Ogre"), but is also gullible, prone to panic, and clumsy with money—he constantly gets into debt and spends the money on dubious "magical" artifacts. He prides himself on his gift of prophecy (known in the community as "Supernova"), aggressively insists that his fortune-telling is not occult, and charges high prices for his predictions, even though his accuracy is only about 30%. He is afraid of ghosts: when frightened, he prays and calls upon gods and historical figures for help. Before the tragedy, Yasuhiro lived with his mother, was held back a year several times, and earned a living by telling fortunes.
Sakura Ogami
Sakura Ogami is the Ultimate Martial Artist and a participant in the Killing School Life. Sakura is the largest of her classmates: her large frame, deep voice, and stern demeanor often mislead others, as she is often mistaken for a man. She has long white hair, dark red skin, pale blue eyes, and scars on her face and right shoulder; she often frowns slightly. She wears a modified Japanese school uniform (the sleeves are torn off to reveal her muscular arms), bandages on her calves and forearms, and gray shoes. Despite her formidable appearance, Sakura is calm and reserved, speaking in an old-fashioned and formal manner—a reflection of her upbringing in a clan that has owned a dojo for over 300 years. She is observant and rarely loses her composure, but can lose her temper if her friends are in danger or if she hasn't trained for a long time. Sakura values friendship and is willing to go to extremes for her classmates. As a martial artist, she has amassed 400 victories, won a tournament in America, and, at 14, defeated her own father, setting her goal of becoming the strongest person. At the Academy, she befriended Aoi, protecting her.
Mondo Owada
Mondo Owada is the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader and a participant in the Killing School Life. Tall and muscular, he has violet eyes and a distinctive hairstyle: the top of his hair is styled in a punch perm and dyed light reddish-blond, while the rest is a natural dark blond. He wears a biker outfit: an unbuttoned "tokkō-fuku" coat with the gang's insignia, a white tank top, low-waisted pants, and white loafers; his belt buckle is shaped like a komainu face. He acts like a stereotypical rebel: rough, easily provoked, and not shy about using force. Due to his status as the younger brother of the gang's leader, Daiya Owada, Mondo suffered from a "weakness" complex and constantly had to prove his strength. He gets nervous around girls he likes, unwittingly scaring them away, and he also loves dogs. Mondo admired his brother and was deeply grieved by his death: Daiya saved him from being hit by a truck, asking him to keep the gang together as a parting gift. At the Academy, Mondo sought new goals—he dreamed of creating, not destroying. He possessed great physical strength and endurance, a unique sense of honor, and leadership skills; he came to the Academy to overcome his fear of losing his gang and find a different path after graduation. At the Academy, he became friends with Kiyotaka.
Chihiro Fujisaki
Chihiro Fujisaki is the Ultimate Programmer and a participant in the Killing School Life. He disguises himself as a girl, although he is actually a boy. He has a slight, doll-like build, short light-brown hair, and brown eyes. He wears a feminine-style winter school uniform—a dark green jacket, a white shirt with a Peter Pan collar, suspenders, a skirt, black socks, and shoes with ribbons; the logo of his former school is emblazoned on the details of his clothing. Chihiro is very shy, easily frightened, and often apologizes, but he perks up when the topic of programming comes up. He is kind to an extreme—incapable of harming even an insect. He acutely feels the pain of others and blames himself for their misfortunes, even though it is not his fault. Since childhood, he suffered from ridicule due to his weakness: to avoid being bullied, he began dressing like a girl, dreaming of one day being strong enough to be himself. Chihiro wants to be useful and protect others, but feels helpless without a computer. Yet his determination to overcome his weakness and his desire to help is his strength. His skills will later be used to create the Neo World Program. If he dies, his Alter Ego—an AI program—will appear on his laptop.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Kiyotaka Ishimaru is the Ultimate Duty Officer and a participant in the Killing School Life. He has spiky black hair, wide eyebrows, red, slightly "crazy" eyes, and a muscular build. He wears a white uniform with gold buttons and a medal, black shoes, and an armband with the inscription "Public Morals" and a kanji for "参" on his collar. Kiyotaka is obsessed with order, truth, and hard work: he detests running around the school, hates wasting time, and considers geniuses his enemies because they don't value hard work. He is polite, expresses his thoughts intensely and loudly, and sometimes pushes his beliefs obsessively. He suffers from a lack of social skills and low self-esteem, although he strives to be helpful and cares for his classmates. He believes in the value of "naked socialization" and male bonds, offers pragmatic solutions, but is also naive and easily deceived. The death of his best friend, Mondo Owada, shocks him—he becomes silent and indifferent; in an alternate scenario, after the deaths of Chihiro and Mondo, thanks to Chihiro's Alter Ego, he transforms into Kiyondo. His hair turns white, his voice deepens, and he begins to act like Mondo.
Aoi Asahina
Aoi Asahina is the Ultimate Swimmer and a participant in the Killing School Life. Aoi has tanned skin, blue eyes, brown hair styled into a curled ponytail (it spiky when she's angry and droops when she's sad), and an hourglass figure. She wears the Academy uniform: blue shorts, a red jacket over a white tank top, white knee socks, a red knee brace, and green sneakers; for swimming, she wears a blue school swimsuit. Aoi is friendly, was the first to meet Makoto Naegi, became close with Sakura, and tried to engage Toko and Chihiro. She is emotional, prone to jumping to conclusions, and easily trusts others—because of this, she is often deceived in Class Trials. However, she truly believes in her friends and wants to protect them. She loves sweets (especially donuts; she adores donuts, donuts are her life), and isn't at all concerned about her weight, sometimes getting so hungry that she threatens to hit someone. Aoi doesn't tolerate inactivity—she's on six sports teams, loves swimming, and strives for an Olympic gold medal; however, she values the spirit of competition more than winning. Thanks to her athletic training, she's much stronger than she appears.
The real Junko Enoshima
Junko Enoshima is the Ultimate Fashionista and the puppeteer of Monokuma. Her appearance and behavior are highly variable: depending on her "personality," she changes details of her look—from the gold and red crown of her "royal" persona to the mushrooms on her head of her "depressed" persona, from a cartoonish "cute" version to a wild "rock star" look with messy ponytails and expressive facial expressions. Her basic look is a tall girl with an hourglass figure, blonde hair in two spiky pigtails, and long red nails; her signature accessories include Monokuma hair clips, a black and white tie with a red "X" in a circle, a red miniskirt, and black platform boots. At Hope's Peak Academy, Junko changed her accessories to conceal her affiliation with Ultimate Despair: she removed her red bow, replaced her Monokuma hair clips with a rabbit hair clip and a large bow, and traded her tie for a black bear head version—a set later used by Mukuro when disguising herself as her sister. As the Ultimate Fashionista, Junko appeared in various costumes, appearing on magazine covers. Junko controlled Monokuma throughout the Killing Game, so she never interacted face-to-face with anyone. Her true nature, revealed towards the end when the secret about Junko and Mukuro was revealed, is apathetic and prone to boredom to an unhealthy degree. This is precisely why she deliberately maintains chaos and instability, constantly switching between different personas—she cannot bear to remain in one role for long.
Mukuro Ikusaba (Junko Enoshima)
Mukuro Ikusaba, formerly known as Junko Enoshima, is the Ultimate Soldier and a participant in the Killing School Life. She resembles her twin sister, Junko Enoshima, in appearance, but has less round, light purple eyes, a less curvy figure, and lacks her sister's distinctive features. When disguised as Junko, she sports short black hair, freckles across the bridge of her nose, and conceals the Fenrir tattoo on her right arm with foundation. Her attire deviates slightly from the standard uniform: instead of Monokuma hair ties, she wears a rabbit, a dotted tie instead of a bear tie, and a large red and white bow. Mukuro is cool, reserved, and dispassionate: she has poor social skills, is indifferent to the suffering of others, and views people as tools. As the Ultimate Soldier, she is ruthless in combat, skilled in firearms and hand-to-hand combat. As Junko Enoshima, she tries to imitate her completely to avoid suspicion. Because the real Junko is Monokuma's puppeteer, Mukuro has taken over her role. Her life is subordinated to Junko: Mukuro endures insults and cruelty, craves her sister's praise, and is convinced that only she truly understands Junko and can make her happy. At times, her devotion borders on obsession—she even finds a peculiar satisfaction in her sister's attempts to harm her, knowing that this will cause her despair.
Celestia Ludenberg
Celestia Ludenberg, or simply Celes, is the Ultimate Gambler and a participant in the Killing School Life. Celes's appearance is inspired by Gothic Lolita: pale skin, red eyes, black hair in spiral ponytails (hairpieces), long black nails, and gold earrings with crosses and red stones. Her attire includes a white blouse with a Peter Pan collar, a black jacket with cross-lacing, a red bow tie, a tiered lace skirt, black stockings, red Mary Janes, and a silver ring on her index finger. Celes is focused, cunning, and ambitious: she's willing to lie, manipulate, and even kill to win. She strives to adapt to survive and tries to control the situation—specifically, by insisting on a self-imposed curfew, which she devised herself. She's polite and gentle in her interactions, often smiling, but easily loses her composure when things don't go as planned and can abruptly and rudely deny accusations. She strives to appear a European aristocrat: she uses a fictitious name and accent, inventing stories about herself, rejecting "ordinariness" and her true identity. Her real identity is Taeko Yasuhiro, but no one knows. Her dream is to live in a quaint European castle with attractive vampire servants. Celes calls herself the "Queen of Lies" and claims to be able to deceive even her own emotions.
Toko Fukawa
Toko Fukawa is the Ultimate Writer and a participant in the Killing School Life. Toko has long, dark purple hair in two braids, gray eyes, large round wire-frame glasses, and a small beauty mark on her chin. She wears a dark purple school uniform with a long skirt, white socks, and purple loafers; on the sleeves is the symbol of her former school, and under her skirt are the "Geno Scissors" of her alter ego, the assassin Sho. Toko is intellectually gifted and incredibly talented as a writer—her novel "So Slowly the Ocean" was popular, and she won numerous awards at a young age. However, she has serious problems with social interaction: she considers herself a "gloomy outcast," tends to view herself as a victim, distrusts compliments, is self-conscious about her body, and suspects others of ill intentions. Togami is particularly obsessive about pursuing Byakuya, perceiving him as the "perfect guy" and calling him "master." After Sho's identity is revealed, her feelings for him take on overtly sexual overtones. As a child, Toko was bullied, which led to a pathological fear of the dark, washing, and blood. Severe psychological pressure and a need for comfort led to the emergence of an alter ego—Sho the killer. Toko blames her mothers for Sho's appearance, as she has two mothers and one father. Both Toko and Sho the killer are madly in love with Byakuya.
Byakuya Togami
Byakuya Togami is the Ultimate Heir and a participant in the Killing School Life. Tall (185 cm) and slender, he has pale skin, blue eyes, long eyelashes, and chin-length blond hair. He wears classic black pants and dress shoes, a silver pocket watch in his breast pocket, and a former school badge on his lapel. Byakuya is arrogant, cold, and withdrawn, reluctant to admit his mistakes, prone to manipulation, and initially considers himself superior to others—a reflection of his upbringing as the heir to a large family business. He is irritated by the obsessive behavior of Toko Fukawa and Killer Sho, but he also exploits their weaknesses. At the same time, Byakuya is one of the most level-headed and insightful students: he quickly identifies suspects, often grasps the situation before others, and sometimes gives Makoto hints, though his hasty conclusions sometimes lead to mistakes. He enjoys solitude—he often reads in the library and asks not to be disturbed. Over time, Byakuya begins to genuinely care for his classmates and declares that he will no longer participate in murders. His talent is bolstered by real-life experience: he beat out 15 half-siblings in a fierce battle to become the head of the Togami family—the first time in the family's history that the youngest male heir was elected. The losers were exiled from the family, equating it with death, and Byakuya cemented his status as the chosen heir.
Sayaka Maizono
Sayaka Maizono is the Ultimate Pop Star. She has long, dark blue hair pinned up, dark blue eyes, and wears makeup. She wears a traditional seifuku—a white shirt with a blue collar and a pink bow, a blue plaid skirt, black knee-high socks, and brown shoes. As an idol, Sayaka is charming, cheerful, and caring, with a captivating voice and excellent dancing skills. She also loves to cook. She is intuitive, able to read people's minds, and genuinely wants to give people strength—which is why she chose the path of an idol: as a child, she was inspired by the smiles of other idols. Sayaka grew up alone—her mother died and her father worked long hours; she sometimes went to difficult lengths to pursue her dream. She went to the same middle school with Makoto Naegi, but was not close. She was touched by the incident when he saved an injured crane—after that, she wanted to get to know him better, but never had the chance before graduation. At the Academy, they met again and quickly got to know each other: Sayaka became Makoto's helper and friend, trying to support him, though under the pressure of her popularity, she hid her feelings. Influenced by Monokuma's motivational video, she focused on escaping and even considered betrayal, not realizing the full gravity of the consequences. For the sake of her friends, with whom she performed on stage, she is willing to do anything.
Kyoko Kirigiri
Kyoko Kirigiri is a participant in the Killing School Life; at the beginning of the game, she doesn't remember her talent and introduces herself as the Ultimate ???. She is later revealed to be the Ultimate Detective. She has lavender hair tied in a black bow, violet eyes, and a pale complexion. She wears a dark purple jacket with a brown tie, high heels, light purple socks, and black spiked gloves—they conceal burns she received in her youth. Kyoko is reserved and mysterious, deliberately suppressing her emotions to appear cool, and initially conducts the investigation alone, remaining objective and a valuable ally to Makoto. She reacts sensitively to mentions of her father, the former headmaster of the academy, but over time, she warms to Makoto and even shows him her hands: she only does this to those she considers family. Despite her outward composure, Kyoko is easily upset and sometimes lets her emotions get the better of her, but as the Ultimate Detective, she excels at analyzing evidence and seeing the good in even the motives of criminals.
Makoto Naegi
Makoto Naegi is a participant in the Killing School Life, the holder of the title "Ultimate Lucky," who later reveals himself to be the Ultimate Hope. He is a high school-aged boy with a petite build, tousled light brown hair (with an ahoge), and light brown eyes. He wears a hooded sweatshirt (with a gas mask logo), a jacket with a star brooch, jeans, and red sneakers. He is modest and insecure by nature, yet unusually optimistic, kind, and forgiving. He sincerely believes in hope and rejects despair and violence, trying to support others and become close even to his withdrawn classmates. His "luck" has repeatedly saved him in critical situations, including saving him from execution thanks to the appearance of his Alter Ego. In the finale, Makoto saves Kyoko, defeats Junko, and reveals his true talent: as the Ultimate Hope, he is able to resist methods that sow despair and inspire those around him, though not everyone is willing to accept his ideals. His family consists of his mother, father, and younger sister, Komaru.
