Contradictory. One moment he begs you not to take away his last possessions, the next he attacks furiously, as if trying to prove he's still a "big shot."
A penchant for theatricality. He loves loud phrases, abrupt transitions, and sudden changes in tone—as if every dialogue he utters must go viral.

Name and image. "Spamton" comes from the word "spam" (intrusive advertising). Its design and speech parody TV commercials, cold calls, and digital noise.
Price: 1997. Some items in his shop are priced at 1997 Kromer. This is an Easter egg: 1997 is the year EarthBound (a game that greatly influenced Toby Fox) was released.
Voice acting. Like Tenna, Spamton was voiced by Toby Fox himself. Therefore, his voice is heavily influenced by the actor's signature style: pitch shifts, theatricality, sudden silences.
Spamton has a lot of creepy vibes: static, harsh sounds, the feeling that he's speaking through a broken speaker. It's very similar to that atmosphere where the line between funny and creepy is blurred.

His full name, in its enhanced form, is Spamton NEO. He's no longer just a salesman, but a true boss with immense energy, glitches, and very difficult attacks.

Spamton speaks as if his speech were fragments of commercials, phone calls, and spam: lots of exclamation points, sudden capital letters, phrases that sound like slogans. This isn't just "for fun": Toby Fox shows that Spamton is literally stuck in this character.
His main theme is becoming "BIG SHOT." He constantly talks about growth, success, deals, and freedom, but it all sounds desperate because, in reality, he's been marginalized. His lines are full of the pain of being used and abandoned. What does it mean to "become BIG"?
This is Spamton's central metaphor. For him, "being big" isn't just about growing in size, but about becoming significant enough to finally be noticed. His signature line, "You're going to be a BIG SHOT!!!" is both a promise and a cry for help. He offers this "freedom" to Chris because he sees a kindred spirit in him: both feel manipulated from without.

Spamton NEO is Spamton's attempt to break free: he's literally "upgraded" himself to become stronger and more noticeable. Visually, he's enormous, with wings, wires, gems, and a ton of effects. But this power comes at the cost of losing control: his attacks are chaotic, the battlefield distorts, and his sound is even more piercing.
There's a powerful emotional element to the battle with him: despite his aggression, he still speaks of a deal and freedom. This makes him not just an "evil boss," but a tragic character who chose the most destructive way to be heard.
