Chapter 3
Although Spamton appears only briefly in the game, he is mentioned repeatedly throughout the chapter, particularly by his former business partner, Tenna. If the player finds Tenna's bonus area, there will be a blue safe on the right. Opening it reveals Pipi inside. Tenna will then return to the room, and depending on whether the Deal Maker or the Scarf Puppet was obtained, the Deal Maker/Scarf Puppet will appear from the inventory and transform into Spamton, who attempts to speak to Tenna. Not recognizing him, Tenna becomes frightened. Spamton attempts to explain, but Tenna sprays him with foam and takes Pipi. Confused, Spamton tells Chris he will never try to speak to her again and returns to the inventory. During the Tenna boss fight, if the Confidant was equipped before acquiring the Shadow Robe, Tenna's normal attack description is read by Spamton, who mentions his former friends' inevitable death.

It should be noted that the "garbage noise" is actually the same as the one used in ENTRY SEVEN, supposedly part of the "True Lab" and believed to have been written by W.D. Gaster. Abandoned by all his friends, Spamton was forced to live in a dumpster in an alley of Cyber ​​City.[12] Despite his downfall, the "Color Cafe" in the Queen's mansion continued to sell his signature bow ties, albeit without the logo.

At some point, someone (presumably Spamton) attempted to impersonate Swatch by wearing his monochrome suit and colored glasses in order to obtain something (presumably the NEO machine).[13] Additionally, someone (presumably Spamton) attempted to hire Sweet Cap'n Cakes to break into the Queen's mansion (presumably to give him access to the machine), but they refused;[14] Spamton later convinces Chris to do the same.

After asking him about his friends, he mentioned a man named Mike. When talking about Mike, Spamton tells Chris not to trust what they see on TV because "THAT MAN IS A CRIMINAL."[15] It is later revealed that the reason Spamton says this is because Tenna, the main antagonist of Chapter 3, is the CRT TV host of the show Tenna's Marvelous Mystery Board: TV Time! was a major part of Spamton's success until he forced him to sign a contract against Mike's will, causing him to receive a mysterious call from someone (presumably the strange someone), causing him to leave Tenna just as he was about to reveal the secrets of how to "become a big shot" to Mike, turning him into the freedom-hungry puppet we know him as. He also exclaims "DO YOU [Mike] UNDERSTAND ALL OF THIS?!" at the end of NEO's fight if he is soundly defeated, hinting that Mike may have recorded for Spamton in some capacity in the past.[16] In reality, Mike appears to be Tenna's right-hand man, and no one knows who he really is.

Many years ago, when Chris was just a child, Spamton was an unknown spammer named Addison, overlooked by the Lightners and unable to make it big.[2][3] Despite his failures, he always declared to his fellow Addisons that he would one day be a "big shot."[4]

Desperate, Spamton began looking for any way to become more popular. Eventually, he contacted someone on the phone who could help him, and suddenly, incredible success awaited him. From that moment on, Spamton was "on the phone all the time," with an unknown person helping him.[5] His Addison friends were jealous of his sudden success and stopped communicating with him.[6] At the peak of his popularity, Spamton befriended TV presenters Tenna and Mike, and they began to help each other gain popularity. At one point, Spamton lent Tenna Peepies. Thanks to his success, Spamton received his own room in the Queen's Mansion, and he increasingly bragged about his deals, from TV advertising to car sales.[7]

Then, as suddenly as its success had come, it collapsed. On the day Spamton was being pressured to sign a fateful deal with Tenna, a stranger who had been assisting Spamton called him with disturbing news, causing him to back out of the deal and storm out of the room. Shortly thereafter, the stranger disappeared, taking with him all of Spamton's sales.[7] In despair, Spamton began spending all his time "praying" in the basement, where he found "a crystal in an [old] machine" and became obsessed with the "artifact" (the artifact being either the machine or the crystal itself).[8][9] This machine was created by an unknown Lightner (possibly the disembodied form of Mettaton, "Nobody") with the help of Swatch, and was a digital rendering of their hopes and dreams. However, these dreams were not destined to come true, and the machine was abandoned in the basement along with the rest of the damaged data.[10]

Since Spamton had nothing left, he had to be evicted from the Queen's mansion.

Spamton was once a natural-born salesman, always ready to make a deal. He harbored ambitious dreams of becoming a big shot, often bragging about it to other addicts. In the past, he had good relationships with people. While he still possesses some of these qualities, his deals are now often meaningless or violent. He claims he became a salesman not for the money, but for the freedom to make his own deals. Nevertheless, he still tries to extort money (which he calls "cromer") from Chris at every opportunity. His speech pattern resembles the typical veiled text of a spam message, with many words replaced by bracketed non sequitur variants, which could indicate misapplied merge variables, hyperlinks, or various voice distortions.

In most dialogue, he appears desperate and mentally unstable, as if projecting himself onto Chris, as their fate—being "puppets" in the hands of a higher power—is similar. In this state, Spamton is prone to contradicting himself and making unintentional, meaningless remarks. This mental instability seems to briefly disappear when Chris speaks to him in his shop and after the battle in NEO form, when he wishes Chris luck on their journey without using broken English.

Spamton constantly spells "generosity" as "genorisity", "guarantee" as "guaranttee", "delicious" as "delicis", and "special" as "specil", except for the last word at the end of Spamton NEO's battle after he cuts all the wires.

In "Strange Road," Spamton's personality becomes more maniacal and sadistic when he witnesses Chris and Noel Holiday treading the forbidden path. If spoken to in the trash can, he advises them to continue freezing enemies to become stronger and obtain a special item, which he later discovers is the Ring of Thorns.

Spamton looks like a miniature puppet and Addison's ex, wearing yellow-pink glasses that sometimes change color, a black V-neck shirt with long sleeves, and slicked-back black hair resembling a pompadour. Oddly enough, he bears a striking resemblance to Swatch.

When transformed into Spamton NEO, Spamton takes the form of the machine it inhabits. This form's body resembles a battered Mettaton NEO, sporting a garish pink and yellow color scheme and a laser cannon mounted on its arm. Countless green threads keep it aloft. Its pink and yellow glass switch places. It also sprouts bat-like wings: one side is green, lilac, and purple, the other yellow, pink, and purple, and its thumbs are turquoise-green and gray.

Swatch mentions that many have failed to replicate his look, with some even attempting to impersonate him. Spamton's sleek black hair, multi-colored glasses, sharp white face, and black suit are noticeably similar to Swatch's attire, and Spamton admits this during a live Q&A as part of the Spamton prank.[1]

Spamton's design appears to be based on several popular images of puppets: he has the face and clothing style of classic ventriloquist puppets, and his nose (non-extending) resembles Pinocchio's. This is also hinted at by his Spamton NEO form, where he refers to himself as a puppet, as well as the song "Real Guy!"

Spamton can increase the size of his head. In his NEO form, his head is always larger than usual.
