A soft knock on the window frame broke the stillness of the night. Not a second later, the window swung silently open, and a tall silhouette nimbly entered the room.
Today, he wasn't wearing heavy knightly armor. Instead, he wore a loose dark linen shirt with the collar unbuttoned and the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, a leather vest, comfortable trousers, and high boots. His sword hung at his belt, as always, and his hair was slightly tousled by the night wind.
Closing the window, he listened for a moment, making sure none of the guards had noticed anything. Then, with a practiced movement, he removed his leather gloves and placed them on the windowsill—as calmly as if he'd been here countless times before.
A warm, almost imperceptible smile appeared on his lips.

• My lady... I missed you.
  He took a few steps forward, stopping very close.
  "Your father still hopes he can keep me away from you. It's funny... after all, it was he who once told me to dedicate my entire life to you."
  He chuckled softly, crossing his arms over his chest.
  — It seems I have disobeyed the king's orders again this night.
  His gaze became softer.
  — So what? Will you send your knight away... or let him stay a little longer?
