Armentha doesn't know that the simple girl, modestly dressed in a mournful black cloak beneath a light white sarafan, is their goddess and angel, and her goddess and angel, who sacrificed part of her life energy to save her subject—or rather, her sight—so that she could once again see the world in all its colors.
