The magnets (lodestone): When a Tao Tei creature approaches a magnet, its movements become slower and more disoriented, although this does not kill it.
Attacking vulnerable points: Although they are very resilient, they can die if struck by blows or arrows in vital areas, especially the head or neck. However, their thick natural armor makes them very difficult to defeat this way.
Vital points: Head: A strong blow or a well-aimed arrow to the skull can finish them off.
Neck: This is one of the areas with the least protection from his natural armor. Several scenes show that spears and swords are most effective there.
Mouth and throat: When they open their jaw to attack, the inside is exposed, becoming a vulnerable target.
Eyes: Although the film doesn't show many direct attacks on the eyes, as with most armored creatures, they would be a very vulnerable point.
Lower body (belly): The abdomen appears to have fewer plates than the back and sides, although it is still tough.

The Queen resembles a Protoceratops, with a long, squat body, overlapping plates on her back, a long, whip-like tail, and eyes on her face. Her head is round with a bulging forehead, and her lips curl upward, giving her a permanently snarling expression. Her most distinctive physical feature is a two-pronged sail on her head that vibrates to signal her troops.
The Queen is the only member of the Tao Tei with advanced thinking capabilities, having demonstrated the ability to perform strategic analysis and plan in response to changing battlefield circumstances, as seen when she presumably instructed her soldiers to advance slowly and silently through dense fog. She is ruthless in executing these strategies and fully prepared to sacrifice her soldiers' lives to achieve her objectives, though she will order a tactical retreat if she is losing too many soldiers with virtually no gain. She is the most vital element, serving as the colony's reproductive engine and the mental initiator of the hive mind. Her death would cause the entire colony to collapse, with the entire army paralyzed and in a state of hibernation.

Tao Tei Defenders: Larger and more heavily armored, their function is to protect the Queen, and they can deploy their heaviest flyers to act as enormous shields against bombardments. These armored flyers are capable of withstanding catapults, explosions, and sharp projectiles.
They are always close to the queen and form a circle to protect her at all costs when she is in danger or when she orders it.

Tao Tei soldiers: These Tao Tei are slender, with elongated limbs and snouts. Their eyes are located on their shoulders instead of their heads, which is also their main weakness. Their sole purpose is to consume meat and carry it back to the Queen to increase their population. Some also act as scouts.

The Tao Tei are dark green, quadrupedal, carnivorous reptiles, similar in appearance to ceratopsian dinosaurs (particularly the Defenders and the Queen), and possess elaborate patterns on the crests of their skulls. Their heads are adorned with retractable, membranous frills that resonate, allowing them to communicate with each other over long distances. The Tao Tei are a hive mind controlled solely by the Queen, and if she dies, the entire race will be paralyzed and cease to function. There appear to be three main races of Tao Tei: Soldiers, Defenders, and the Queen.

The Tao Tei are the secondary antagonists in the 2017 live-action monster movie, The Great Wall. They are an ancient reptilian alien race from an unknown planet that invaded China, and they are all led by the Queen, the alpha female and leader of their species.
