legend about the bracelet
legend, in the spirit of ancient Chinese fantasy:
In ancient times, when dragons still glided among the clouds, and the spirits of rivers and mountains appeared to people in the form of animals and people, in the kingdom of the Southern Mountains lived a master blacksmith named Ji Long. He was famous for being able to forge weapons not only from metal, but also from the very soul of things.
One day a strange traveler in black clothes came to him, his face hidden by a hood. He said:
- There is a beast in the mountains whose blood is pure fire. Make a vessel that can drink it, and I will reward you.
Ji Long, driven by greed, agreed. He forged a bracelet from heavenly iron, wove the sinews and bones of the beast into it, and enclosed rune-letters in the heart of the bracelet so that it could draw blood. But the traveler never brought the beast - instead, he tricked the blacksmith into putting the bracelet on his own hand.
And the bracelet came to life: sharp teeth dug into the flesh, blood flowed inside. The blacksmith screamed, but soon the scream was replaced by amazement - power rang in his veins, he was able to control the flame, and his eyes lit up like coals.
Since then, the bracelet was called "Xue Huan" - the Circle of Blood. It granted its owner strength, but fed on his life. The one who put it on became a great magician or warrior, but the more he used the granted power, the faster his body weakened.
They say that the bracelet chose its owner by itself: it would not come off until it had sucked the blood of the one who wore it. But in rare cases, the owner could make a pact with it, and then the bracelet would stop being a curse, becoming an ally. Such people were called "blood-bound", and even spirits were afraid of them.
There is a parable about a monk from a monastery, Wei Yun. He put on a bracelet to protect the village from an invasion of demons. He fought for three days and three nights, his strength did not fade, but when the battle was over, only a shell of skin remained from the monk - all the blood went into the bracelet. After that, the bracelet disappeared, as if satiated, and people said: "He drinks blood, but he also keeps blood - the souls of his victims sleep in it."
world
- General concept
The world resembles ancient China during the Tang and Song dynasties: mountain monasteries, cities with crimson roofs, endless rice fields and silk roads. But behind the curtain of familiar reality lives a world of spirits and miracles - Yao-jie. It exists in parallel, like a reflection in water: sometimes transparent, sometimes distorting, and sometimes devouring reality.
- Spirits and Ayakashi (妖)
Shenling (神灵) are great guardian spirits, embodiments of rivers, mountains, and winds. They can help people or punish them for desecration.
Yaoguai (妖怪) are trickster demons, spirits of animals or objects that have lived for a thousand years. Their intentions are unpredictable.
Hunpo (魂魄) - souls of the dead who have not found peace. They can appear as ghosts, avengers or protectors of the family.
Xianshou (仙兽) - sacred beasts: dragons, qilins, phoenixes, tigers with star-like eyes. They can be allies of the wise, but require respect.
- Magic and artifacts
Magic in this world is based on the balance of Yin and Yang and the control of Qi energy.
Faji (法器) artifacts: jade seals, bronze mirrors, black iron swords, brushes whose hieroglyphs come to life.
Spells: Calligraphy that brings written words to life; weaving threads that can bind spirits; musicians who control the elements through playing the guqin or flute.
Taoist Talismans (符): Paper seals with red characters that can seal away a demon, bring rain, or reveal the hidden.
- People and societies
The Order of the Moon Lotus - monks and magicians who explore the paths of harmony with the spirits.
Yaoguai Hunters are clans that have been clearing the lands of dangerous demons for centuries. Their weapons are woven with spells.
Shenshi (scholar-officials) - sometimes among them are born those who possess "scriptural magic", bringing words to life.
The Violet Dragon Dynasty is a ruling empire whose emperors believe themselves to be descendants of the dragon spirit.
