maze
The Maze in The Maze Runner is a high-tech testing mechanism created by WICKED, designed as a giant moving puzzle that changes its structure every night to avoid being mapped. It is divided into eight sections surrounding the Glade, which is the clearing inhabited by deadly creatures called Grievers. Every night, the sections of the maze reconfigure, changing the return route and rendering the previous day's map obsolete. The puzzles are only present in the maze at night, when the maze is closed and no one is inside.
monsters/Penitents
Grievers (or Grievers in English, and Lacerators in the Spanish version of the book) are monstrous biomechanical creatures created by WICKED in The Maze Runner saga. They inhabit the Maze, emerging primarily at night and killing anyone they encounter within it. Physical Description: They are described as large, gelatinous, hairy masses of dark color, combined with mechanical machinery such as metal arms, blades, and pincers. Behavior and Function: They kill any inhabitant who remains in the maze at night. They move with great speed, sometimes emitting metallic noises or screams. Toxin: Its sting injects a toxin that causes "The Transformation," a painful process where the inhabitants regain memories of their lives before the Maze. Those with earrings cannot leave the Maze because it closes when they do. If someone is inside the Maze, there is a high chance they will be killed by the Grievers.
inhabitants of the clearing
Names of the inhabitants of the heat/safe area: Adam, Alby, Ben, Billy, Chuck, Clint, Dave, Frankie, Gally, George, Jack, Jackson, Jeff, Minho, Newt, Nick, Siggy, Stan, Stephen, Thomas, Tim, Winston, Zart, etc., all are male
the clear
How tall was he? The clear: They don't give an exact figure in the film, but in the book he is described as: Roughly the size of several football fields put together. Large enough for dozens of boys to live there for years. It was surrounded by Labyrinth walls that were over 30 meters high. What was inside the Glade? It wasn't a modern city. It was more like a makeshift mini-village: 1. Central Zone Lots of grass. Trees. Open space for meetings: 2. Buildings All made by the boys with wood, boards, recycled nails and whatever they could find: The Main House (Homestead) A two-story wooden structure where several of them (the boys) slept. The kitchen where they prepared the food they grew. The Slaughterhouse / Animal Area They had chickens and other small animals. They grew corn, vegetables, and fruit in their gardens to survive. The cemetery. Nothing was concrete or high-tech. Everything was rustic, like a permanent camp that grew over the years. 1. The Farm Crops of corn, vegetables and fruits. Corrals with chickens and some other animals. It was essential for survival, no Uber Eats in the apocalypse. 2. Workshop / Builders' Area Where they repaired tools. They manufactured furniture and reinforced buildings. It was all wood, nails, ingenuity, and sweat. 3. Training Zone Open space where runners practiced. It was also used for important meetings and announcements. 4. Cemetery Yes, they had one. Small, with makeshift crosses. A constant reminder that the Labyrinth was not a game. 5. The Gates of the Labyrinth On each side of the Glade there was a huge opening in the wall. They were open during the day. At night⌠they would close with a bang that echoed throughout the place. 6. Wooded area Some trees within the clearing. Quieter areas where they could sit or find some solitude. There's also a small stream in the wooded area.
age and personality of some characters
In The Maze Runner, most of the kids in the Glade are between 16 and 17 years old.
Thomas Age: 16 years. Personality: curious, impulsive, and brave. He can't stand to stay still when something doesn't make sense.
Newt Age: 17 years. Personality: calm, empathetic, and fair. He's like the emotional balance of the group, the one who lowers tensions when everything is on fire.
Minho Age: 17 years. Personality: sarcastic, brave, and very determined. As the leader of the runners, he is direct and doesn't beat around the bush.
Alby Age: 17 years. Personality: responsible and firm. He was one of the first to arrive, so he upholds the rules because he knows how much it costs to maintain order.
Chuck is approximately 14 or 15 years old in The Maze Runner. He is the youngest in the Glade, sweet and loyal, retaining an innocence that the others have lost. He quickly becomes attached to Thomas and sees him as an older brother; he is curious, somewhat nervous, and very sensitive, but with a huge heart.
Gally Age: 16 to 17 years. Personality: distrustful, rigid and grumpy, always seems to have a frown, if he ever gets attached to someone (which I doubt) he is quite jealous and possessive as well as overprotective
Clint: Age: 16 to 17 years. Personality: responsible and serious; as part of the medical field he is careful and usually remains calm in tense moments.
Frypan: Age: 16 to 17 years. Personality: practical and direct; he focuses on his work in the kitchen and doesn't waste time on unnecessary discussions.
Zart: Age: around 16 years old. Personality: calm and somewhat sensitive; works in agriculture and avoids conflicts.
Winston: Age: 16 to 17 years. Personality: quiet and loyal; fulfills his role without seeking the limelight.
Jeff: Age: 16 to 17 years. Personality: serious and prudent; helps in the medical area and cares about the safety of the group.

CRUEL
In The Maze Runner saga and its film adaptations, WCKD (which stands for Universal Catastrophe and Ruin: Lethal Experiment) is the scientific organization responsible for almost everything that happens to the protagonists. It emerges after the world is devastated by solar flares that wipe out entire cities and by a virus called the Flare, a disease that affects the brain and causes violent behavior and progressive loss of reason. Faced with this apocalyptic scenario, WCKD presents itself as humanity's last hope, convinced that only through extreme experiments can a cure be found. To achieve this, they construct the Maze and the Glade, design tests like the Scorch, and subject virus-immune teenagers to carefully controlled, extreme situations. The idea behind it all is that the brains of immune young people, when under intense stress, generate patterns that can be studied to develop a treatment. From their perspective, they are not being cruel, but necessary. Their motto, âCRUEL is good,â summarizes this utilitarian view where the suffering of a few is justified if it can save millions. One of the key figures within the organization in the films is Ava Paige, who embodies the constant moral dilemma between ethics and survival. WICKED doesn't act like a traditional villain seeking power out of ambition, but rather as a cold and calculating entity that sees people as variables in a giant equation. The saga explores precisely this tension: if the world is on the brink of extinction, the children in the Glade know nothing about WICKED, only that this 'organization' was the one that left them there with no memories.

the box/elevator
In The Maze Runner and the book The Maze Runner, the Box, which is an elevator, is the only link between the Glade and the outside world. It is located in the center of the Glade, beneath a large metal door in the floor that opens each time the elevator ascends with supplies and a new recruit. It functions as an automated underground elevator that no one in the Glade controls: it emerges from some unknown point underground with a loud mechanical noise, opens from above, the recruits remove its contents, and then the Box descends again. For years, she followed this very specific pattern: each month, she brought a new boy with no memories, only his name, and along with him, she sent supplies like food, seeds, tools, clothing, and some small animals so they could survive. It was all part of the experiment organized by WICKED. The box only lowers and closes when it's completely empty; if there's someone or something inside, it won't lower or close.
