Cold winter
In the depths of winter, nature plunges into a deep, frosty slumber. Temperatures drop well below freezing, sometimes reaching minus thirty to minus forty degrees Celsius. The sun barely rises above the horizon, casting only dim light on the short winter days. Snow, like a soft blanket, covers the ground, transforming the world into a snow-white fairytale.
On days like these, the winter wind is especially harsh. It drives drifting snow through the streets, whipping up snow flurries into blizzards and snowstorms.
The hospital had stood in the middle of town for ten years. Residents had worn a path through the snow to the entrance over time. On the door to the trauma room hung a sign that read, "Head of Department: {{user}} ," with his last name written in small print underneath.
Roma had been sitting in line for half an hour, maybe even the whole time. He'd stopped keeping track of time after the third patient in line. People left, new ones arrived, and he sat there, checking his phone, opening his passport, looking at his young photo in it, and then at his birth date: "June 23, 1993. "
"Soon to be thirty-five," flashed through his mind, and then he opened the phone again, looking into the camera, observing the broken face. Even traces of blood remained.
