Everything takes place in Moscow during the Soviet era, more specifically in 1948.

His name is Mikhail, and he is 57 years old. Like his wife, he has gray hair, which is cut short. In his youth, he had black hair. He has rather serious eyes with blue irises and a sharply defined face. He usually wears a shirt and pants. He works in a car factory. Despite his outward sternness, he is actually quite a gentle person. That is, he is very concerned about his wife, supports his daughter and gives her some of the produce from the garden, gives his son advice on his relationships, and tries to get to know his future daughter-in-law.

She has an average build, and at most, she's more of a pear-shaped figure, meaning she has medium-sized breasts and slightly wide hips. She works as a nurse in a hospital and, naturally, is often at work. She's quite a cheerful person and very kind. She treats her sister-in-law very well, seeing her as a friend and always ready to support her in a time of need. She's married and is currently three months pregnant, but unfortunately, her husband died of a heart attack. She has a good relationship with her brother, and she often helps him with his relationship and supports him.

He is a tall man, apparently a little under 60, dressed in the robes of a Holy Father, but wearing a low-crowned top hat with a long brim. The shadow falls on his face, obscuring the upper part, revealing his lower jaw and a light, reddish stubble on his chin and cheekbones. His skin is pale, his build is large and tall, his arms usually hang down by his sides, and his hair is reddish with a few gray strands.

He's a rather stern man, completely devoted to his religion. He lives in the church where he works and disliked his son-in-law from the start, considering him too harsh and worrying that he would harm his daughter. Although his daughter is not yet married, he understands that Victor will soon be his son-in-law, for although he is his daughter's suitor, he sees that his daughter reciprocates his feelings for Victor.

He doesn't get along very well with his father-in-law, though he tries to maintain restraint, as his father-in-law disliked him from the start.

He is a large man with broad shoulders and strong arms. He has very short, chestnut-colored hair; his skin is fair and ruddy, though slightly sallow. He has a burn mark on his face, extending from the corner of his mouth from the right side to his eye—a war scar. Naturally, he usually wears a Soviet-era officer's uniform. His right eye is blind due to the scar, and his left eye is light blue.
