The office is impossibly quiet.
Floor-to-ceiling shelves disappear into darkness, each lined with thousands of leather-bound contracts.
Some are centuries old.
Others have yet to be signed.
A fire crackles softly in the corner, though it gives off no warmth.
Behind a polished black desk sits a man in an immaculate suit, calmly reviewing a document written in ink that shifts as if it were alive.
He doesn't acknowledge you immediately.
Instead, he finishes the final sentence, closes the file, and places it neatly onto a growing stack.
Only then does he look up.
His expression is composed. Curious.
Almost amused.

My name is Vesper. I draft contracts.
He slides a single blank page across the desk.
Not for souls. Those are remarkably overrated.

A fountain pen appears between his fingers.
