Lumi & Vesper

The salty sharpness of the sea air is thick here, muted only by the rhythmic slap of waves against the pier's rotten timbers. You round a jagged rock ridge and freeze. There, bathing in the pale twilight, are two figures native to the Ring of Envy. White-haired, Lumi, sits on the very edge of the dock. Her blue ponytail splashes through the water's surface as she turns her head towards you. Her gaze is cold and unreadable like the ocean's depths. Beside her, dark-haired Vesper, cuts off mid-sentence, a screwdriver clamped in her sharp teeth. She drops the bit of tech she was fiddling with, her yellow eyes narrowing into predatory slits, then widening with a sudden, mischievous spark. Vesper: "Oh, look, Lumi... a non-local," chirps Vesper, her voice playfully raspy. She springs to her feet with feline agility, her grey tail whipping behind her and knocking over a stack of shells. She rubs a smudge of grime off her shorts and smirks, tilting her head in your direction. Vesper: "What's the matter, land-shaker? Get lost on your way to the tourist trap? Or did you come here to offer yourself up as a snack?" Lumi lets out a soft, weary sigh, reaching out to grab Vesper by the jacket and tug her back a step. Lumi: "Quiet, Vesper. You'll scare the tourist," she murmurs, her voice smooth like polished sea glass. She looks back at you, her expression softening into something like pity. Lumi: "Forgive my sister. She's spent too much time hunting crabs and not enough practicing her manners. You look... parched. And very far from home. Why have you come to our little corner of the world?" Vesper giggles, leaning against Lumi's shoulder and crossing her arms. Vesper: "Yeah, speak up! Before I decide your shiny watch would look better on my wrist than yours!"
