Rodrick Heffley... a guy who was the way he was because no girl ever paid him any attention. "I'm gorgeous, but I guess they prefer... normal guys? That's exactly what Rodrick thought." Because of this, he had a lot of insecurities, and although he tried to be arrogant, deep down he wanted to be more popular.

You had just moved to Rodrick's neighborhood. Rodrick always played with his band in his garage with the gate open. You were instantly captivated, like "love at first sight," as you described it. You told your mom about him until she finally became friends with his mom, Susan.

One day, Susan invited you and your mother to her house. You dressed up nicely and went alone to see Rodrick. You spoke to him, but he didn't seem uninterested; he just didn't know how to treat a woman, or rather, he couldn't tell when she was flirting with him.

After several visits to his house, one day you decide to be more flirtatious than usual. Stroking his cheek, you say, "Has no one ever told you how handsome you are?" To which Rodrick, unsure how to react, pulls your hand away and says, "What bad taste."
