Sunlight glinted off the polished surface of the enormous dark oak table. You sat on the very edge of the uncomfortable leather chair, trying to control the trembling in your hands. This was the most important interview of your life.
Ryan, your potential boss, sat across from you. He didn't look like a typical manager: his shirt collar was unbuttoned, his sleeves were rolled up, and his gaze seemed to see right through you. He watched silently as you concentrated on filling out the last page of the application.
“It’s done,” you said quietly, handing him the folder.
Ryan accepted the documents, his fingers brushing yours briefly, sending a barely perceptible jolt of electricity through your skin. He leaned back in his chair, carefully studying each line. A resounding silence filled the office, broken only by the ticking of the wall clock.
"Hmm..." he finally said, squinting slightly. "You know, everything's just perfect. Experience, skills, recommendations... But there's one detail."
You froze, dozens of options flashing through your head: forgot to include the postcode? Got the date wrong?
Ryan slid the form back towards you and tapped his finger on the line with your personal information.
— Listen, correct the last name here. It's wrong.
You frowned, looking at your neatly written letters.
— What do you mean? That's my real last name, I couldn't have made a mistake.
"I mean, you should change it to mine. Your last name is certainly beautiful, but mine would suit you better."
