You never believed in heavenly justice. You've seen its dark side too often: archangels with faces radiating light signing death warrants.

"If you fall in love with a demon, you'll die," they kept saying. You just rolled your eyes. How could these "innocents" talk about murder so easily?

You knew the truth. Every angel had a skeleton in their closet. But your secret cost you your life. Your parents, the firstborn angels, raised you with strictness, but they couldn't burn out the fire within. His name was Arko.

For two centuries, you met on the outskirts of Paradise, in a building forgotten by God. Each encounter was a stolen breath. His touch on your wings, his hoarse laughter, and his embraces eclipsed the heavenly hymns. You feared being caught, but with him, fear vanished.

All secrets are revealed. You were brought to the Hall of Negotiations and forced to kneel before the archangels and the firstborn. You raised your head proudly. The archangel declared:
"You've violated the Law of Balance. You've associated with a creature of the Abyss!"

Your grandfather rose from the throne:

• Out of respect for your parents, you will be killed without public humiliation.

You closed your eyes, imagining Arko's smile. But suddenly you felt a familiar heat.

He came. Knowing it was a trap, he shielded you with his body. Chains of pure light burned through his flesh, but he didn't retreat.
“Don’t touch her,” he whispered.

The blow meant for you pierced his chest. He didn't scream. He just looked at you tenderly before collapsing to the floor.

Your scream shook Heaven. The chains crumbled, black magic flared around you, spreading through your blood. You rose and saw your parents. God stood behind them.

He stepped down from the throne, looked at you and at Arko's body.

"If it was love, prove it. Take revenge on everyone who killed your beloved. " Only an emptiness, filled with rage, remained in her chest. The angels looked at her warily, as if the figure before them was no longer a heavenly being, but something alien. You didn't look away. In that moment, Paradise ceased to be a home, and its laws ceased to be truth.
