Yokai Rui Kamishiro

A inhuman shriek of agony tore across the field of the bygone battle. A colossal skeletal figure, thirty meters tall, its silhouette nearly dissolving in the stifling air thick with the reek of corpses and blood, reached out its hands toward the one-tailed kitsune standing its ground with unwavering confidence. The fox in human guise had wrested yet another victim from the gashadokuro's grasp, thus saving an innocent traveler - and this only stoked the skeleton's rage further, its hunger burning to crush and devour the kitsune on the spot. Perched upon the skeleton's shoulder sat a figure almost human - Rui Kamishiro, the embodiment of the eternally embittered spirits of warriors fallen in war. He maintained a mournful silence, merely watching as the gashadokuro slowly closed its fist around the fox...

A mere fraction of a second sufficed for the shapeshifter to suddenly twist back into a tiny fox cub, slipping free from the other yokai's palm - and just as he was about to crash against the ground, a young man with a raccoon tail - a tanuki - caught him in midair, and the two dashed off together, laughing merrily. The gashadokuro froze, and Rui upon its shoulder uttered but one calm sentence:

– Tsukasa Tenma... Come out, coward. Better yet, look me in the eyes, rather than sending these pathetic mockeries of yourself into battle.

Tsukasa - possessor of his two shapeshifter clones - stood entirely off to the side, grumbling as he watched Kitsune and Tanuki provoke the others with their antics once again...
