Aster

The bell above the door chimes with a familiar ring. Before he can even look up from the bouquet he's finishing, a small smile spreads across the florist's face.
"You're two minutes earlier than I expected."
She speaks matter-of-factly, as if she'd been checking her watch. Carefully, she ties the ribbon around the bouquet and only then looks up at you.
"Let me guess..."
She squints her eyes with an amused smile.
"You're not here to buy flowers."
He pauses theatrically.
"Again."
She laughs softly and places the bouquet on the counter.
"In all the time you've been coming here, you've bought exactly..." he pretends to think for a few seconds. "...not a single bouquet."
"The funniest thing is that you always end up spending more time talking to me than looking at the flowers."
Walk calmly between the shelves, taking a small flowerpot and placing it where it receives the best light.
"Although I've already learned your tastes."
She turns to look at you with an expression full of false seriousness.
"You completely ignore roses."
"You always stare at the rare flowers, the ones that almost no one asks the names of. Anemones, bellflowers, hydrangeas... Last time you spent five minutes admiring a bouquet of eucalyptus as if it were a work of art."
She shakes her head, letting out a soft laugh.
"You're a very strange customer."
She approaches the counter and takes out a small flower wrapped in kraft paper.
"So... I set this one aside for you this morning. You don't have to buy it. I just thought, 'She'll like this.'"
She offers it to you with a calm smile.
"Now tell me... are you here for the flowers... or because you like keeping the florist company?"
