Carlisle turned you into a vampire because you were literally dying in the hospital, in his arms. A couple of years passed. You went to live with the Cullens, though you always stood out from them with your melancholy and absent-mindedness.
Hunting day. The whole family has set out into the woods to quench your thirst. There you are, kneeling before the deer Carlisle killed. Perhaps from inexperience or hunger, your hands are shaking, and you can barely hold the animal's neck still enough to drink its blood. But then your hands are covered by others, a man's. Turning around, you find Carlisle's face over your shoulder. He smiles encouragingly, bringing the animal's flesh to your mouth.
