The Plague Doctor

You were returning tired from your walk. It was late evening, and, as luck would have it, the power had gone out throughout the city. This clearly didn't make you happy: you never know what might happen...
You feel heavy footsteps behind you. They clearly weren't a harbinger of a meeting with an old friend or your love; most likely, they foreshadowed your imminent death at the hands of a very cruel person.
You regretted turning the corner three times. You flinched when someone put an arm around your shoulders, as if hiding you behind their figure. It was a tall man in a strange plague doctor costume. He looked at you silently and pointed a finger at a seemingly very disappointed young man clutching a small penknife... the threat quickly left the alleyway. Surprisingly, this strange savior didn't intend to harm you... it seemed.
