power system

In The God of High School, the power system is primarily divided into two branches: Extreme Martial Arts and Charyeok (Borrowed Power), later evolving into the revelation of divine identities. To understand how humans manage to fight on equal terms with mystical creatures, check out The God of High School Guide on Aficionados.

  1. Martial Arts and Human Basis

At the beginning of the work, the emphasis is placed on extreme physical training and real or fictional fighting styles (such as Jin Mori's Renewal Taekwondo, Han Daewi's Karate, and Yoo Mira's Moonlight Sword). The fighters start with numerical power levels based on physical conditioning.

  1. Charyeok (Borrowed Power)

As the competition progresses, Charyeok is introduced. This is a contract where a human "borrows" the power of a supernatural entity, god, or mythical creature. Users can: Summon them as distinct entities to fight alongside them. Coat themselves with the energy to gain super-strength, speed, or invulnerability. Materialize divine weapons. The use of Charyeok drains the user's life energy, causing extreme fatigue or biological damage if used excessively.

  1. Gods and Entities (The True Scale of Power)

As Yongje Park's story unfolds in the original work, it is revealed that several of the main characters are not merely humans, but rather reincarnations of gods and demons from the Celestial Realm and the Realm of Sages. Characters like Jin Mori (who is, in fact, the God Sun Wukong, the Great Sage, Equal to Heaven) access cosmic-scale abilities, including elemental manipulation, clones, time control, and even space and gravity distortion.

important characters

The main trio of protagonists in The God of High School consists of Jin Mori, Han Daewi, and Yoo Mira. They meet during a martial arts tournament sponsored by a mysterious corporation, where the winner will have any wish granted.

Details about the main characters:

Jin Mori: He is the main protagonist, a young expert in Renewed Taekwondo. Although he appears to be just an energetic 17-year-old student seeking challenges, he hides an overwhelming divine identity.

Han Daewi: A Karate expert, he initially fights to save the life of his sick best friend. He possesses the Borrowed Power (Charyeok) of a mystical creature called Haetae, which allows him to manipulate water and block attacks.

Yoo Mira: A master swordswoman who seeks to restore her family's dojo and sword style. She makes a contract with the spirit of the Chinese general Lu Bu, granting her superhuman strength and lethal skills.

Commissioners

The Commissioners (also called Judges or Executives) in The God of High School are a group of superpowered humans who work for Park Mu-Bong. They are responsible for recruiting fighters, managing the tournament, and possess the ability to use Charyeok (power borrowed from deities and demons). Main Commissioners: The commissioners are identified by letters of the alphabet and play key roles in the story:

Judge Q (Kim Sak-Choo): An expert in insect manipulation and one of Mori Jin's closest associates at the beginning.

Judge O (Park Il-Pyo/R): Generally associated with fire control and hand-to-hand combat, known for his immense strength.

Judge B: Uses Charyeok attached to a scythe and spatial abilities.

Judge R (Lee Kal-Ma): One of the youngest and most talented, with powers involving swords.

Judge C (Sim Bong-Sa): Uses abilities based on controlling monsters or ghosts with a necromancy-themed visual style.

Judge P (Na Gi-Ju): The only female chief commissioner in the first phase, with magical or mystical powers.

The Role in History

They initially act as recruiters, traveling the world to find martial arts students capable of withstanding divine power. Later, as the secret organization NOX reveals itself and the tournament transforms into an epic battle, they serve as humanity's primary force for defense and intervention.

Judges

The Judges, also known as Commissioners or Executives (Korean: 집행위원), were a group of powerful humans, most with superhuman abilities and the capacity to use Charyeok, who were under the orders of Park Mu-Bong. The Judges came under the command of the new world president after the fall of Park Mujin, before the dissolution of the organization.

After RagnarÖk, the number of judges increased considerably due to the new format of the GOH Tournament. The strongest or most useful judges had a codename designated by a letter of the Roman alphabet, while the weakest judges received numbers as codenames. Since the judge with the highest number was 205, it is presumed that there were at least that many judges.

With the death of most of the original Judges and the defection of the remaining Judges after humanity's arrival in the Promised Land, the organization finally dissolved. Currently, some of the former Judges are part of the former Executives, the new defense group of the World Government, now led by Park Ilpyo.

Bottom Judges appear to be recruited through the GOH Tournament. Exceptionally talented or powerful participants can be recruited to become judges, such as Park Mu-Bong, who holds the title of Judge P due to Samuel Rosinante. If a GOH participant reaches the quarterfinals of the tournament, they receive a Judge's License, and if they win the tournament, they have the opportunity to become World President. All judges are appointed and managed by Park Mu-Bong, who has power over their salaries, missions, and responsibilities. Known judges have been responsible for recruiting competitors for the God of Highschool Tournament. Judges will participate in combat or reconnaissance missions if ordered to do so. After RagnarÖk, all judges receive national hero rights and are given nano-injections that they can also distribute to their immediate family members.

Gods of High School Tournament 2

Consolation game All teams were able to participate in a consolation match, with the two best teams advancing to the world tournament. The match format was a round-robin, where the last remaining team and the team with the most remaining life points advanced to the world tournament.

World Tournament The world tournament was formatted in the same way as the national tournament, except that this time, the teams were composed of competitors from their respective countries and not from their respective regions within the country.

Gods of High School Tournament

The God of High School Tournament is a mysterious competition held in South Korea, to which people from all over South Korea and other countries are invited. The tournament was held in different parts of Korea, and the top 3 representatives were selected for the national tournament. The true purpose of the tournament (as revealed by Park Mubong) was to find the Keys.

Tournament format Preliminary The preliminaries consisted of a wrestling match between all competitors selected by the judges. Those who survived the match advanced to the regional tournament.

Regional Tournament The regional stages of the GOH Tournament were elimination rounds, with all participants competing individually. A total of 32 participants were selected. The top three finishers advanced to the national tournament as a team. The participating regions were: Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Jeju Island, Jeollabuk-do, Jeollanam-do, Gangwon-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and the metropolitan area.

Participants from the Metropolitan Area Jin Mori (Winner) Han Daewi (Second place) Yu Mira (3rd place) Byeon Jaehee (4th place) Baek Seungchul Gang Manseok Go Gamdo Ma Miseon National Tournament The National Championship was a league tournament where wrestlers from each regional team competed against each other. A regional team was formed by the 3 best wrestlers from the regional tournament. The winning team had the option to fight in the World Championship.

Skills 3

Eight of Cups, One Card: This technique invokes a healing that moves through the cards of Q. Five of Clovers, Triple: This technique allows Q to summon more heals. Ace of Spades, Three of Diamonds, Two Cards: This technique invoked healing by wielding small blades through the destroyed healings. Straight Clovers: Summon a Joker's head from the ground to devour the opponent. Unknown Scramble: Summoned a giant healing spell to crush enemies. Pantomime: A technique used by Judge Q as a direct descendant of the Joker, after obtaining a sequence of three cards in the shuffle. It "copies" the opponent's attacks and transforms them into a deck of 52 cards. If all 52 cards have been used, the 53rd card, the Joker, can be used to apply all the damage suffered by Judge Q back to the opponent, multiplied by 100. Seventeen years after Ragnarök, this technique becomes so powerful that it covers the entire Earth and is capable of stopping Geundowun's lightning bolt.

Skills 2

Scythe: He can create a leaf using the Joker card. He is very skilled in using the leaf, which can also cause large-scale destruction. In his battle against Drake McDonald, he easily defeated him, cutting off both his arms and striking his body. He also stated the ability to summon small leaf-like blades from each card separately. Recently, he also stated the ability to use the leaf and spin it rapidly, transforming it into a giant spinning disc that he launched for a long time. When using his power as a direct descendant, the scythe he used was the Joker's own scythe, made more ornate with gold details.

Small Blades: Small, leaf-shaped blades can be summoned from different cards. They can even cut through angels with ease. Charyeok Techniques Dark Magician: An ability that seems to cause your cards to have a will of their own and attack the designated target. Joker's Trick: Q leaves a Joker card behind that will summon a Joker when an enemy approaches. The Joker will then restrict the enemy's movement. [4] Direct contract Grand Circus: A direct contract ability, Q summons four clowns of varying sizes around him, who attack Q's opponent. Self-Projection: A direct contract ability that allows Q to create a clone/projection of himself using a healing card. Power loan Shuffle: One of the techniques he can use to increase his power. As the name suggests, Q shuffles his cards and draws 5 cards. These 5 cards are detailed according to poker hands and Q can use them as attacks. The better the hand, the stronger his attacks will be. These techniques seem to consume a lot of GP, as he needed to raise his limit to level six. Eight of Cups, One Card: This technique invokes a healing that moves through the cards of Q.

Skills

Judge Q is one of the members of the GOH tournament's recruitment team and is a very strong character. He was the one who gave Jin Mo-Ri her second defeat. Once the limiter is removed, he possesses an extremely high GP of 2500.

Superhuman strength: Judge Q declared great strength upon collapsing Jin Mo-Ri (who had not yet awakened) with a single punch.

Superhuman resistance: Judge Q's resilience proves to be monstrous, capable of withstanding enemy attacks and even rising to his feet after being stabbed twice with a broadsword.

Charyeok:Joker Judge Q's charyeok is a Joker. Q can use the Joker individually or the scythe during battles. Q's charyeok can be considered nameless, an unknown charyeok. As he is a direct descendant of this Joker, he is capable of both Direct Contract and Power Borrowing. In Direct Contract and Power Borrowing, Q wears a mask and a cape, which is called the Grand Circus.

Letters: He uses cards to fight and can even pierce metal and walls with them. The cards can be moved telekinetically, for both defense and attack.

Joker Card: Q also possesses a Joker card that can summon the Joker in times of need. When Drake McDonald attempted to attack Q, the Joker's arms on the card protected Q, detecting the blade. Later, during his battle with Axley, the Joker was summoned separately from a card attached to Axley's wings.

personality 2

RagnarÖke's fall into debt made him more humble and helped him greatly when Mu-Bong gave him the chance to rebuild his fortune. He no longer takes money for granted and supports the community. He also became less arrogant, as despite having managed to defeat Kim Doo-Shik in a fight, he doesn't consider himself a member of the Six, stating that he won the fight by luck and that he would lose to him in 9 out of 10 fights.

Judge Q loves his family and is willing to go to extremes to watch over them. He made a deal with Mu-Bong to obtain the crown of Jaecheondaesong in exchange for protection of his family and company. This care even extends to his brother-in-law, with whom he had a mentor-associate relationship before RagnarÖk, and he promised his sister that he would take care of him. Upon discovering that Dae-Wi was still alive, he declared himself proud to see him so strong.

personality

Q has a very arrogant and stubborn personality. He seems to be considered a great fighter and doesn't handle defeat well, usually wanting a rematch if he loses in a way that doesn't score him (which happens almost always). He tries to stay calm during fights, but his temper can get the better of him. Despite his negative traits, he seems to care deeply about people, as demonstrated when he became furious upon learning of the death of Shim Bong-Sa's Drake McDonald structure. He even blamed Park Mu-Bong for not doing his job of watching over them.

He loved to eat, as was evident when he decided to train Han Dae-Wi if she cooked for him. He ate quickly and sloppily, frequently getting food on his face and clothes. Generally, he led a rather messy and disorganized life, often separating from his parents and having lost his home after destroying it during a fight against Drake McDonald and the other priests. However, he quickly adapted to a modest lifestyle, even living in a cardboard box with other homeless people and not minding eating ramen every other day. He was before he thought.

He appears to have a strong rivalry with Judge R, both exchanging taunts and insults whenever they can, and eventually clashing when they get angry enough. Q taunted R for having his arm broken by Jin Mori, stating that he would rather die than live with the humiliation.[3] He also didn't seem to take the betrayal lightly and came to despise R even more when he discovered that he had betrayed Mu-Bong and was secretly working with Nox.

Appearance

Judge Q (Kim Beyong-tae) is a tall man who wears the typical Judge uniform, but is frequently seen without the suit. His green hair is combed back in a messy fashion, reaching just below his neck. He is the only Judge seen wearing glasses.[1]

Seventeen years after the events of Ragnarök, Q grew a sparse beard around his chin and upper back and displays three large scars on the left side of his face (one that goes down to his left eye, one that crosses his face diagonally, and a smaller one that crosses the lower part of the first scar). Later, at his wife's request, Q had the scars removed.
