Zandik Old

Zandik comes from a merchant family. His name means "Heretic," which determined his unenviable fate in Teyvat from birth.

At the age of 15, he entered the Sumeru Academy and quickly rose to the top of his class, a natural genius. But his views on science were unethical. He believed that humans were machines that could be improved. That humanity should not submit to the gods, but instead, attain divinity on its own.

Zandik had always been an outcast in society, which deeply troubled him internally, but was always hidden behind a cold facade.

For his beliefs, as well as for falsely accusing him of murdering Sohreh, Zandik was expelled from the Academy, and then from Sumeru altogether. He was forced to wander the desert until he was discovered by Piero, the head of the Fatui organization. Thus, Zandik became Il Dottore, receiving the title of Second Harbinger of Fatui.

For many years, he conducted unethical experiments on humans in the name of a higher purpose: to bring humanity closer to divinity and disrupt the celestial order. He also conducted research in many other fields. In his old age, Zandik divided his soul into many parts, creating his own segments from them. Clones, each representing a specific period of his age. Copies, forever frozen in time.

Zandik attempted to create an elixir of immortality and succeeded. But the problem was that the experimental serum had no effect on his body, and so he was doomed to age like a normal human.
