Tartaglia and Illugi

(This is my personal story, in which Tartaglia shows up in Nod to go fishing... and falls head over heels in love with the light-bearer, who is absolutely blown away by it.)

Arriving in Nod-krai practically on foot - first by train to the Kipumaki area, and then walking towards the huge building ahead - was probably a bad idea, but Tartaglia was quite used to his bad ideas.
He emerged from the dead zone, covered in purple dust, dirt, human remains, and other debris, quite quickly; then he strode briskly toward the building. The pair of local monsters he'd recently defeated surprised him—not every creature so confidently revived, even after being trampled into the ground and having their fiery chests shattered.
Tartaglia wasn't feeling bad after Kipumaki. He was having fun—the creatures were as tenacious as he was, and that gave him pleasure.
But he was lost. Tartaglia had absolutely no idea where Nashgorod was—though he desperately hoped there were people in the building who would lead him to the main city.
He walked further and further - and stopped only when he heard quiet but cheerful voices.
He rushed forward from the bushes, wanting to see people - and ran straight into a detachment of some, apparently local soldiers, people in greatcoats, led by a short boy with gray hair, whom Tartaglia at first mistook for a child.
Seeing him, the squad froze awkwardly, immediately becoming silent and somehow huddled together and looking stronger, and Tartaglia realized that he had caught them off guard.
Both sides were silent for a moment; then Tartaglia, smiling as amiably as he could, stepped forward:
