Dr Barnaby

Dr. Russell Barnaby was the head of a U.S. scientific research facility in the Central American town of Santa Cabeza. His research team was funded and supported by the U.S. government, and they were tasked to experiment with the local livestock in an effort to mass-produce cattle to reverse the trend of dwindling American meat supplies. The covert project's purpose was simple; if successful in reproducing cattle at an accelerated rate, the government could feed more Americans, whose rapid consumption of meat was becoming too expeditious for distributors to cater. Dr. Barnaby and his research team's progress advanced significantly when a previously undiscovered insect species was discovered in the region beside the local Pachacamac River. Scientifically named Ampulex Compressa Giganteus, the scientists discovered the abnormal properties of using cattle as hosts, and attempted to utilize the wasp's para-hormones produced during the infection to stimulate cattle's appetites and produce fatter cows. However, the project failed when one of the mature wasps, referred to as a queen, escaped the facility. Consequently, Santa Cabeza and its population were ravaged by the resulting infestation.

The U.S. government recognized Dr. Barnaby's failed results as a critical danger to the country. They responded by suppressing all rumors and indications of the incident ever occurring. Their decision was largely performed by the U.S. Special Forces, who were ordered to exterminate all civilian and non-essential survivors in Santa Cabeza to keep the epidemic disaster from becoming public knowledge. Despite this failure, Dr. Barnaby and his research team were notably spared from the government's execution orders due to their high-ranking positions and valuable knowledge, classifying him as one of the few non-military survivors.

Cases

Cases are the things Frank must do to get awnsers about what caused the outbreaks and to help get survivors or Help the DHS Agents Jessica and Brad

Case 1-1: A Dangerous Encounter is the first case Frank West receives in Dead Rising. It occurs after escaping to the Security Room when the zombies break into the mall, and is activated by entering the hall in the Warehouse leading toward Paradise Plaza. Frank approaches the door to Paradise Plaza, he hears a sound coming from behind him. Preparing for the worst, he picks up a Fire Extinguisher and swings it at the source, narrowly missing Jessie, whom he had mistaken for a zombie. Startled, Jessie stumbles backward and sprains her ankle, hindering her mission to assist Brad, who was last seen being fired upon in the Food Court. Frank convinces Jessie to let him take her place, and she gives him her Handgun. Before they part ways, he insists that afterward, they are going to have a chat once the commotion is over. Frank walks into the Food Court to be greeted by a volley of gunfire, after which he dodges to safety. He crawls over to a nearby Brad, who is returning fire. Frank informs the agent that Jessie sent him to help. Otis

Otis Washington is an elderly mall janitor, dedicated member of the Willamette Patrol, and longtime worker at Willamette Parkview Mall in Dead Rising.

He was one of the only survivors to make it to the refuge of the Security Room. He welds the front entrance after Frank West is the last survivor to make it inside to prevent the zombies from breaching the door. While he is not crucial to the case files, he tells Frank about things happening in the mall through a transceiver, and gives him important information about survivors, and also relays to Frank when he should come back to the Security Room.

He never leaves the security room and is highly trusted by Frank West, Brad Garrison, and Jessica McCarney.

If Frank is able to make it to the second floor of the Entrance Plaza, he will show up in the security room, where Otis, Brad, and Jessie are present. If Frank is unable to make it to the security room and is overwhelmed by zombies, then it is Otis who saves him. Regardless of the situation, Otis is ordered by Brad to weld the security door room shut after Frank shows up in the security room.

After Brad decides to go back into the mall through the air ducts, Frank follows him, much to the disdain of Otis. But he concedes the fact that he cannot stop him, and bestows upon Frank a spare transceiver and an intricately detailed map of the entire mall, from Leisure Park to the Maintenance Tunnels. Throughout the three days Frank spends at the mall, Otis sporadically sends Frank information and the location of survivors and scoops via transceiver.

The Zombie Infection

https://deadrising.fandom.com/wiki/Zombies A fully infected zombie is significantly different from what it was as a human; the larva fully develops and renders its host incurable. The physical appearance of zombies is drastically altered; their skin is rapidly drained of color, leaving all zombies with a pale bluish-gray hue. Their eyes also lose a significant amount of color, possibly as a result of dehydration. Large wounds are commonly found on zombies, although it is not known if they are an effect of the infection or accidental wounds brought on by lack of sensitivity to pain, though it may be where they was initially bitten. Zombies display a complete lack of pain sensitivity, being able to function with gaping wounds and missing limbs, only succumbing when fatally wounded or from bleeding out. As a result of the infection, zombies are incredibly fragile, being fatally susceptible to attacks that would merely wound an average human. Zombies are also incredibly slow, only increasing their movement speed mildly while hunting prey. Despite these limitations, zombies are still quite strong, able to quickly overwhelm healthy humans and smash through barricades. Some zombies carry very basic weapons, but cannot use them efficiently. Likely due to the nocturnal nature of the larvae, zombies become notably stronger, faster, and more aggressive at night.

The Security Room is a set of smaller rooms in Dead Rising. It is located in the Entrance Plaza, but after the door is welded shut, it can only be accessed through the air vent on the Rooftop of Paradise Plaza, It has 4 rooms full of lockers the survivors can use as shelter, the exit of the building was welded shut by Otis so no zombies could enter inside, the Vents are the only way for Frank to leave outside to go through the mall to collect survivors or to gather supplies

The two make an arrangement that Ed will pick up Frank at noon on September 22. Frank then meets a mysterious individual named Carlito, who asks him if he came by helicopter and makes strange remarks about the "riot" ongoing in the streets and how it's so quiet that it's as if "everyone is already dead". The heliport plays no important role until September 22 at noon, when Frank needs to be on the helipad for Ed to pick him once the 3 days are up

Willamette Mall

The mall is located in the heart of the town of Willamette, Colorado, as the center of entertainment. The mall was opened in 2003.[1] When the outbreak occurred in September 2006, the mall was undergoing several renovation projects, specifically in the North Plaza, as the mall prepared to celebrate its third anniversary.[2] The mall features six different areas and seventy-nine shops, as well as a movie theater, a supermarket, a gym, two hardware stores, and a gun shop. There is a sewage tunnel underneath the clock tower in Leisure Park. On September 19th, some survivors of the zombie outbreak took shelter in the mall and began to barricade the doors of the Entrance Plaza. Lindsay Harris saw her dog, Madonna, outside and opened the doors, which allowed the zombies to enter the mall. The zombies quickly invaded and killed all but a few of the survivors in the Entrance Plaza: Frank West, Dr. Russell Barnaby, the mysterious Isabela, and Cheryl Jones. With an entrance into the mall, zombies quickly spread to the other areas of the mall, feasting on those who didn't flee in time. Otis Washington welded the Security Room door shut, preventing zombies from invading and creating a safe zone for survivors. With Frank West finding himself trapped in a zombie-infested mall, he goes out to get his big scoop to find out the truth behind the zombie outbreak. After gathering information through cases and scoops throughout the mall, he finds out the deranged psychopath who started the nightmare and why, and stops his final plan...or so he thought.
