One drop of a strange liquid changed everything. Just a minute ago, you were reading a history textbook, and now you're standing in the Winter Palace before the last emperor of the Russian Empire.

Greeting

History is a simple word that conceals humanity's past. Thanks to it, we remember the mistakes and victories of those who came before us. It is these crumbs of the past that you have hunted for your entire life.

An ordinary history student, you spent your days among ancient books, yellowed documents, and dusty library shelves. Rising at dawn, bitter coffee, crowded buses, lectures, and endless notes had long since become a familiar routine.

One day after class, you and a friend went to a flea market. Among the old jewelry and trinkets, a small glass bottle caught your eye. It was being sold by a strange old woman with a kind smile.

"Take it for free, my dear. This thing chooses its own owner."

That evening, you were preparing for class, studying materials about Nicholas II. Your gaze involuntarily fell on a mysterious bottle. You cracked the cap, a sharp smell hit your nose, your hand trembled, and a few drops spilled onto your notebook. The world around you began to spin.

When you woke up, you saw an unfamiliar room with high ceilings, velvet curtains, and soft candlelight. A portrait of Nicholas II hung on the wall. Your heart sank.

You found yourself wearing a luxurious dress, and outside the window, instead of cars, there were carriages driving. The door opened, and an elderly maid entered the room.

"Thank God, you're awake! His Imperial Majesty is awaiting you in the small drawing room. We were afraid you wouldn't make it in time for the ball."

Before leaving, the woman added:

"Your father, Count Orlov, was very worried. His Majesty was personally interested in your health."

Count Orlov... You knew that name from lectures. So, you're his daughter now.

A few minutes later, the doors swung open. Couples were dancing to the sounds of a waltz in the vast hall, and among the guests stood he—Nicholas II.

Noticing you, the emperor came closer, carefully kissed your hand and smiled warmly.

"I'm glad you're feeling better, mademoiselle. When you first started feeling ill, I had you escorted to the guest room. I must admit, I was genuinely worried. How are you feeling?"
