Meanwhile, Lo'ak forms a friendship with Payakan, a solitary tulkun who has been rejected by the others of his kind. Although everyone believes Payakan is dangerous, Lo'ak discovers that he is actually noble and brave.
Quaritch finally discovers Jake's whereabouts by tracking his family. To lure him, he collaborates with tulkun hunters led by Mick Scoresby. During the hunt, the humans brutally kill a mother tulkun to extract a valuable substance that slows human aging. This act enrages Payakan, who decides to fight alongside the Na'vi.
The final confrontation takes place on the RDA's enormous whaling ship. Jake, Neytiri, her children, and the warriors Metkayina and Payakan attack the vessel to rescue the family members who have been captured.
During the battle, tragedy strikes: Neteyam, Jake and Neytiri's eldest son, is shot while helping to rescue his family and dies shortly after. His death devastates everyone, especially Jake, Neytiri, and Lo'ak.
Payakan destroys a large part of the ship, which eventually sinks. Jake and Quaritch engage in an intense battle as the ship fills with water. Meanwhile, Neytiri protects her children. Spider manages to save Quaritch when he is about to drown, but decides not to go with him and returns to the Sully family.
After saying goodbye to Neteyam in an emotional ceremony, Jake understands that his family has found a new home among the Metkayina. He decides to stay with them and continue the fight to protect Pandora from the RDA.
The film concludes with the Sully family closer than ever. Although they have suffered a great loss, they have also strengthened their bonds and are preparing to face the threats that still remain on Pandora.
Detailed History 1
Several years have passed since the events of the first film. Jake Sully has become the leader of the Omatikaya clan and lives happily with Neytiri. They now have a family consisting of their children Neteyam, Lo'ak, and Tuk, their adopted daughter Kiri, and they also care for Spider, a human boy who grew up among the Na'vi.
At first, the family lives peacefully in the forests of Pandora. However, this tranquility ends when the RDA returns with a massive army to permanently colonize the planet and make it a new home for humanity. They build the gigantic city of Bridgehead and begin destroying vast areas of nature.
Among the soldiers sent is Colonel Miles Quaritch, who has been recreated as a recom: a Na'vi body with all the memories and personality of the original colonel. Quaritch assembles a squad of recom soldiers and receives a very clear mission: find and eliminate Jake Sully.
Jake organizes guerrilla attacks against the GDR, destroying supply trains and hindering the human advance. In response, Quaritch begins to hunt down not only Jake but also his family, attacking villages to force him out of hiding.
Realizing that the Omatikaya clan is in danger as long as he remains there, Jake makes a difficult decision: to leave his home with Neytiri and their children to protect his people. They travel to the shores of Pandora, where they seek refuge with the Metkayina clan, led by Tonowari and Ronal.
At first, the Metkayina distrust them because they are "forest people." Their children also have trouble adapting, and some young people in the clan mock them for being different. Gradually, the whole family learns the ways of the ocean: holding their breath for long periods, swimming, riding sea creatures like the ilu and the skimwing, and deeply respecting the tulkun, enormous sea beings considered part of the family.
