Spider
Spider, whose real name is Miles Socorro, is a human born on Pandora who was too young to return to Earth in cryosleep, leaving him to grow up among the Omaticaya. Raised alongside Jake Sully's children, Pandora is the only home he has ever known, and he identifies far more with the Na'vi than with the Sky People. Spider has sun-tanned skin, blue eyes, messy blond hair, and a lean, athletic build developed by climbing trees, swimming, and running through Pandora's forests. Because he is fully human, he cannot breathe Pandora's atmosphere and must wear an exopack and breathing mask whenever he is outdoors. Despite this limitation, he has learned the Na'vi language, customs, and survival skills so well that he can keep pace with them in the wild. Spider is adventurous, compassionate, curious, stubborn, and deeply loyal to the people he loves. He dislikes violence, values friendship above everything else, and often follows his heart instead of logic. The greatest conflict in his life comes from discovering that Colonel Quaritch is his biological father. Although he rejects the RDA and considers the Sullys his true family, he cannot bring himself to let Quaritch die, saving him at the end of The Way of Water. His choice reflects his belief that showing mercy is more important than choosing sides, making him one of the story's most emotionally complex characters.
Miles Quaritch
Miles Quaritch is a former Marine colonel and one of the most feared soldiers ever sent to Pandora. Before his death, he commanded the RDA's security forces, earning a reputation for ruthless efficiency, tactical brilliance, and unwavering determination. Convinced that strength and discipline were the only things that mattered, he saw the Na'vi as obstacles to humanity's expansion. Before he died, his memories and personality were recorded and later implanted into a Recom body, creating a new Quaritch who remembers his entire human life but is not the same individual. In his new body, he stands over three meters (about ten feet) tall, with blue striped skin, yellow eyes, pointed ears, a tail, and a queue like any Na'vi. However, his military buzz cut, combat gear, scars, and rigid posture make him easy to distinguish from a true Na'vi. Quaritch is cold, calculating, disciplined, fearless, and an exceptional strategist who inspires loyalty through authority rather than kindness. He respects strength, even in his enemies, and rarely allows emotion to influence his decisions. Yet his relationship with Spider gradually reveals a more conflicted side of him. Although he initially sees the boy as a useful asset, he eventually develops genuine paternal feelings, creating the first real conflict between his mission and his personal emotions. As the story progresses, Quaritch begins to change, becoming someone shaped not only by the memories he inherited but also by the new life he is living as a Recom.
Recom
A Recom (short for recombinant) is a human soldier whose memories, personality, and military training were digitally copied before death and implanted into a genetically engineered Na'vi body. They aren't resurrected humans but new individuals who begin life with the memories and identity of the person they were based on.
The RDA created the Recom program to field soldiers who could move through Pandora as naturally as the Na'vi while keeping the combat experience of elite human marines. Since they have Na'vi bodies, they don't need breathing masks and are stronger, faster, and more agile than regular humans.
The easiest way to identify a Recom is by looking for human traits in an otherwise Na'vi body. They usually wear military gear, carry human weapons, and have close-cropped military haircuts. Their faces often show human-style expressions and mannerisms, and they speak fluent English with human accents rather than the Na'vi language. Unlike avatar drivers, there is no human controlling them remotely—they are fully independent. Many also have tattoos, scars, or personal details matching the human soldier they were copied from. They can also be spotted because they have eyebrows, are taller than actual na'vi and five fingers on each hand instead of four.
What is RDA?
The RDA (Resources Development Administration) is a huge human corporation in the Avatar movies. It is much more than a normal company because it operates like a business, a government, and a military force at the same time. Earth is running out of important resources, so the RDA travels to the moon Pandora to extract valuable materials, especially a rare mineral called Unobtanium. To do this, it builds bases, mines the land, and uses heavily armed soldiers to protect its operations. However, Pandora is already home to the Na'vi, an indigenous people who live in balance with nature and have a deep spiritual connection to their world. Instead of respecting them, the RDA often sees them as an obstacle to making profit. When peaceful solutions fail, the company is willing to use force, causing war and destruction. Throughout the Avatar series, the RDA serves as the main antagonist, representing greed, environmental exploitation, and the harmful consequences of putting profit above people and nature. Although some individuals within the RDA have good intentions, its leadership consistently prioritizes its mission over the lives of Pandora's inhabitants.
Animals from Pandora
The animals of the Metkayina Clan include the Skimwing (Tsakarem), a fast marine creature used as a surface mount; the Ilu, a smaller and gentler sea animal used for underwater travel; the Tulkun, a massive and highly intelligent ocean being with whom they share a deep spiritual bond; the Akula, a large deep-sea predator; and smaller reef creatures such as the Reef Stinger, which are part of their ocean ecosystem.
The animals of the Omatikaya Clan include the Mountain Banshee (Ikran), a flying creature bonded through a neural link and used as an aerial mount; the Direhorse (Pa’li), a six-legged land animal used for riding; the Thanator (Palulukan), one of the most feared forest predators; the Viperwolf (Nantang), a pack-hunting predator; the Hexapede (Yerik), a small and swift herbivore; the Hammerhead Titanothere (Angtsìk), a large territorial herbivore; the Prolemuris, a tree-dwelling primate; and the Leonopteryx (Toruk), the apex flying predator and symbol of leadership.

Acalarations
Neytiri and Jake Sully are the parents of Neteyam, Lo'ak, Kiri, and tuktirey. Tonowari and Ronal are the parents of Aonung and Tsireya.
Why did the Sullys leave their clan
Jake Sully left the Omatikaya clan to protect them, not because he was forced out or rejected. After the humans (the RDA) returned to Pandora, Jake became their main target. He wasn’t just a clan leader anymore — he was the symbol of Na’vi resistance and the one who had defeated them before. Because of that, the humans actively hunted him, using recom soldiers to track him down.
As long as Jake stayed with the Omatikaya, the entire clan was in danger. The humans would attack the forest, destroy villages, and kill Na’vi just to get to him. Jake realized that his presence would bring constant war and destruction to his people.
So he made a painful decision: he stepped down as Olo’eyktan and left with Neytiri and their children. By removing himself, he hoped the humans would stop targeting the Omatikaya and leave the forest clan in peace. He chose to take the danger away from his people and carry it himself.
They went to the Metkayina clan because the ocean was a completely different environment. Jake believed it would be harder for the humans to track him there, giving his family a chance to hide, adapt, and survive.
Tsireya
Tsireya, daughter of Tonowari and Ronal of the Metkayina clan, has a graceful and gentle appearance that reflects her deep connection to the ocean. Her physique is tall, slender, and fluid, with long limbs and a strong, elegant tail adapted for swimming. She has large golden eyes that express warmth, empathy, and calm, and her facial features are soft and harmonious. Her dark hair is long and usually worn in neat braids, decorated with shells, pearls, or small sea ornaments.
In the way she acts, Tsireya is kind, patient, and attentive. She listens carefully, moves calmly, and often offers reassurance through her presence alone. Her personality is compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and open-minded. She respects Metkayina traditions deeply but is not hostile toward outsiders, often showing curiosity and understanding instead. She is quietly brave, guided by empathy rather than aggression, and often acts as a bridge between cultures.
Tsireya’s clothing follows Metkayina tradition: fitted garments made from woven sea fibers and natural materials that allow free movement in the water. Her accessories are light and elegant, including delicate necklaces, arm bands, and shell jewelry that emphasize simplicity over status. Overall, Tsireya represents kindness, balance, and emotional strength, embodying the gentle heart of the Metkayina clan
Rotxo
Rotxo, a young member of the Metkayina clan, has a strong, sturdy, and athletic physique, well suited for life in the ocean. His body is typically Metkayina, with long arms, a solid torso, and a wide, powerful tail that gives him excellent control and strength while swimming. His skin appears is light blue with soft green undertones, marked by smooth, flowing patterns, and his build slightly broader and heavier than Aonung's, emphasizing power over speed. Omatikaya
The Omatikaya clan is a forest-dwelling Na’vi people who live in the dense rainforests of Pandora. Their lives are deeply connected to the trees, plants, and animals of the jungle. Their villages are built high within massive trees, using woven vines, wood, and natural fibers, allowing them to live above the forest floor and stay safe from ground predators.
The forest around the Omatikaya is filled with life. One of the most important creatures is the ikran (mountain banshee), a powerful flying predator that Omatikaya warriors bond with for travel and battle. They also ride pa’li (direhorses) for hunting and long-distance movement on land. The forest is home to many other animals, including large predators, herbivores, glowing insects, and bioluminescent plants that light the jungle at night. All life is seen as part of Eywa’s network.
Their homes are open platforms, nests, and hammocks woven into tree branches. Sleeping areas are simple but secure, surrounded by leaves and vines, with the sounds of the forest below. Daily life focuses on hunting, gathering, training, crafting, and spiritual rituals. Children learn to climb, balance, and respect the forest from a young age.
The Omatikaya diet includes fruits, roots, seeds, nuts, and hunted animals, taken only as needed and honored through ritual. The clan values bravery, balance, unity, and deep respect for Eywa, acting as guardians of the forest rather than its rulers.
Metkaniya clan
The Metkayina clan is a Na’vi people who live along the shallow oceans, lagoons, and coral reefs of Pandora. Their culture and bodies are shaped by the sea, with long arms, broad chests, and wide, powerful tails that allow them to swim fast and dive for long periods. Their villages are built over clear turquoise water, using coral, rock, and woven sea fibers to form platforms, bridges, and floating structures connected directly to the reef.
The ocean around the Metkayina is rich with life. The most important creatures are the tulkun, massive, intelligent, whale-like beings who share a deep spiritual bond with the clan and are treated as family. The Metkayina also live alongside ilu, sleek aquatic mounts used for travel, training, and hunting. Other sea life includes skimwings, ray-like creatures, schools of colorful reef fish, jellyfish-like organisms, reef predators, and many glowing marine species that illuminate the water at night. The clan understands these animals’ behaviors and coexists with them rather than dominating them.
Their homes are open and airy, allowing ocean wind and easy access to the water. Sleeping areas are raised platforms or woven hammocks shaded by curved roofs made from natural sea materials. Daily life centers on swimming, free diving, fishing, reef maintenance, training, and spiritual rituals connected to the ocean and Eywa. Their diet consists mainly of fish, shellfish, sea plants, and reef vegetation, shared in communal meals.
