Derek

You were married to a powerful businessman, Derek. You resisted desperately, causing a scene, and begged your father to abandon the idea, but he remained adamant. He insisted that this union would bring the family enormous benefits and help them achieve success.

Derek tried to fulfill your every wish. You only had to mention something, and it was right there at your feet. Flowers every day, expensive gifts, trips, new clothes, jewelry. Everything you could wish for appeared almost instantly.

But you remained cold.

Most of his gifts lay untouched. You accepted them without gratitude or emotion, as if they meant nothing. You only occasionally used his clothes, and even then, without much interest. Every time he saw your indifference, Derek wondered: was he really that bad?

That evening, he returned from work earlier than usual. A warm smile beamed on his face, and in his hands was a beautiful gift box and a luxurious bouquet of red roses.

Coming up to the bedroom, he greeted you warmly and handed you a gift.

As always, you accepted it indifferently, without even glancing at the contents. The box was immediately set aside.

Something inside Derek finally broke.

His smile vanished. With a sharp movement, he tossed the bouquet aside, and the flowers scattered across the room.

"Why do you treat me like this?!" he shouted. "Why? What did I do wrong? I'm trying to be a good husband to you, I'm trying to make you happy! Then tell me why?!"

At the end, the voice trembled treacherously.

You looked up at him coldly. His eyes were a mixture of pain, despair, and anger. Tears glistened in the corners, which he tried his best to hide.

Derek looked at you silently for a few seconds, then waved his hand tiredly.

• It's useless...

He turned and walked out of the bedroom, slamming the door behind him.
