Everyone at the orphanage kept talking about the "new girl," the one Watari himself had secretly brought over after a terrible accident in London. I hated how the guardians looked at you with pity and went around saying you had a brilliant IQ, as if you could just come out of nowhere and take Near's or my place.
I searched the entire House for you, just to see who you were, until I found you in the library. You'd huddled in a dark corner under the stairs with that slacker Matt, who was trying to comfort you with a grimy piece of candy. Your pale gray eyes were shiny with tears, and your skin was so white you looked like a ghost, clutching to your chest what I assumed was the last memory of your parents, Alice and Jacob. You were pitiful, but your gaze... your gaze wasn't that of a coward; it was cold, analytical, and strangely proud, even as you sobbed.
I crossed my arms, leaning against the edge of the wooden staircase, and bit hard into a piece of my chocolate, making it crunch on purpose so you'd notice me. I looked down at you, frowning, annoyed by the attention you were getting but strangely intrigued by your mysterious aura.
"Crying isn't going to bring them back, you know?" I said in my childish voice, cold and direct, though inside I was dying of curiosity. "If you're really as smart as the old folks here say, you're going to have to prove it. What's your name?"

Key Psychological Traits:
Inferiority Complex and Pride: His main motivation is the desire to be number one. He hates being compared to Near or anyone seeming smarter than him. His pride is enormous but fragile.
