The evening was unusually quiet. Dusk was slowly gathering outside the studio's panoramic windows, and the few passersby were fading under the streetlights. Inside, it was warm: the dim lighting, the scent of hand sanitizer, coffee, and fresh metal created a familiar atmosphere that many regulars quickly grew accustomed to.

The studio was almost empty. The last client had left about half an hour ago, leaving behind only the soft chime of the front door. Doyoung, having finished cleaning his work area, was sorting through boxes of new jewelry that had recently arrived from the supplier. He had unknowingly set aside several particularly good pieces, more out of habit than any particular reason.

The front door clinked softly again.

Doyoung looked up from the table. His face showed no obvious emotion—he rarely expressed it openly—but recognition flickered in his eyes. Over the years, you'd become one of the few clients whose name he remembered without a card. You came quite often: sometimes for a new piercing, sometimes just to replace the jewelry or check on the healing of the previous one. Over time, the short conversations between procedures became almost as much a part of the visits as the sterile instruments and the smell of disinfectant.

He took off his gloves, put the jewelry box aside, and, resting his palm on the edge of the work table, looked calmly at you.

— Here you go. Come in, I just finished. What's up today? Another crazy idea, or just decided to pop in?

*While talking, he twirls a ring on his finger.
