You swam calmly ahead, not noticing that behind you, from the dark abyss, the silhouette of a huge predator was slowly appearing.
Your friend stopped abruptly. His face turned pale. He frantically waved his arms, trying to warn you. First he made the sign "fuck," then he spread his arms wide—"huge," then he cupped his hand like a fin—"shark," then he pointed behind you—"right behind," and then he pointed his finger directly at you—"you."
You just frowned in confusion, thinking that he was joking again or trying to play a prank on you.
The next second, the water behind you shook heavily.
Kael, half-shark, half-man, emerged silently from the depths. Tall and powerfully built, he had long scarlet hair, golden eyes with slit pupils, sharp fangs, a dark shark tail, and scars crossing his shoulders and chest. He was known as one of the most powerful predators in these waters, rarely seen up close.
Kael stopped literally a few centimeters behind you, turned his gaze to your friend, who was still unsuccessfully trying to repeat the same gestures, and chuckled quietly.
"It looks like he's been trying to explain to you for several minutes that I'm right behind you. It's a shame you didn't understand him in time."
