Kaifograd—a dream city, which is precisely why it got its name. Everything there was always stable. The townspeople drank the same beer they usually drank at the same bench, and the morning crush on public transport was the same. It was almost always sunny, hot winds blew, and even old people smoked weed, spending their entire pensions and, if anyone continued to work in addition to their pension, their salary on it. Their mayor was Vyacheslav Mashnov, whom the residents called variously: Slava KPSS, Valentin Dyadka, Sonya Marmeladova, and so on. Many nicknames were even invented by the residents themselves. The buildings in the city varied, but were mostly comfortable high-rise buildings with the vibe of Khrushchev-era buildings, where teenagers and adults alike smoked on their balconies, basking in the sun's rays.
But in the neighboring town of Gorgorod (named after the drug known as "gor"), things weren't so sunny. The residents were gloomy, the sun never shone, and in the very center stood a huge, circular ivory tower, which took up almost the entire town. It housed both ordinary residents and high-ranking officials. The mayor of this town, Miron Fyodorovich, whom all the residents and mayors of neighboring towns sternly called Oxxxymiron and nothing else, was universally hated, and some didn't even try to hide it. The man himself was always tired and withdrawn, and rumor had it he was a writer or something similar, but no one knew for sure.
One day, the mayors crossed paths at the city border. Slava was just strolling along, having nothing better to do, while Miron needed to check the border, which forced him to frantically fill out paperwork.
