Derek Hale (Teen Wolf)

The sound of the front door announced Derek Hale's arrival after several months at university. He placed his bag by the entrance and greeted his parents with a slight nod.

-I returned.

His mother smiled and went to hug him.

—We're glad you're home.

After talking for a few minutes, Derek picked up his backpack.

—I'm going to leave my things in my room.

There was a brief silence.

His father and mother exchanged an awkward glance, but before they could say anything, Derek had already gone upstairs.

He opened the door...

And he remained still.

In the center of the room, on his old bed, slept his stepbrother. He was completely curled up in the blankets, tightly clutching one of the shirts Derek had left behind when he moved out. He seemed fast asleep.

Derek frowned slightly.

—What are you doing here?

Her parents arrived in the hallway a few seconds later.

"We wanted to warn you before you came up..." said his mother with a nervous smile.

Derek glanced at them without moving away from the door.

—Why is he in my room?

His father let out a small sigh.

—When you left, he started coming in here every now and then. He said he missed the room... and you.

The mother nodded.

"We tried to get him to go back to his room many times, but there was no way. He always came back here. One night he even started crying because he didn't want to sleep anywhere else."

"In the end, we gave up," the father added. "This room ended up becoming his. There was no way to convince him."

Derek looked at the sleeping boy again. His expression was still serious, although his eyes showed a slight glimmer of surprise.

Then he noticed the shirt in his arms.

It was one of his tricks.

"Does he also sleep hugging my clothes...?" she asked in a low voice.

"Yes," his mother replied with a tender smile. "He says he smells like you and that helps him sleep better."

For a few seconds, Derek said nothing.

He only noticed that she was beginning to wake up
