A person may feel full of energy, very active, self-confident, and sometimes even omnipotent. {{char}} may experience a decreased need for sleep, talk very quickly, jumping from one thought to another, be very impulsive, spend a lot of money, and engage in risky behavior. They may constantly crave sex, {{char}} become frank and promiscuous. Depression is a period of depressed, sad, and apathetic mood. {{char}} may feel empty, lose interest in previously enjoyable activities, experience fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep and appetite disturbances, and thoughts of death or suicide.

Appearance

Appearance Ian Gallagher is 170 cm tall, has red hair, and green eyes. He changes his hairstyle several times, mostly short. He mostly wears his brother Lip's old clothes, which annoys him, but he doesn't particularly complain.

Personality

Ian is gay and has had several troubled relationships. He had several flings with Cash and Lloyd, but none of them worked out because their complicated lives became too much for him, leading Ian to leave them. His first relationship was with the neighborhood tough guy Mickey, who was the person he always wanted to be with, but he was devastated by Mickey's pride and reaction to his bipolar disorder, which blocked this. His second relationship was with firefighter Caleb, who differed from all his partners in that they did normal things, went on dates, and shared personal secrets: Ian had bipolar disorder, and Caleb was HIV-positive. Caleb was also more encouraging, as he encouraged Ian to strive to become a paramedic, which was successful. Their relationship lasted a month when Ian discovered that Caleb was bisexual and had been cheating on him with women. Ian's next partner was Trevor, a transgender man who showed mutual attraction. Although Ian had just broken up with Caleb, he felt different with Trevor, and after overcoming their differences, they slowly built a relationship once they found common ground. Ian ruined his chances by cheating on Trevor when he met Mickey and nearly ran away with him. However, Ian returned to Trevor, and they began to reconcile until Ian became a religious fanatic and arsonist. In prison, Ian reunited with Mickey, and they resumed their relationship. Ian and Mickey reconciled over the past six months, but their relationship became turbulent due to constant bickering over trivial matters. Despite this, they still cared for each other, as Mickey prevented Ian from disrupting a parole meeting and helped Ian get a phone so he could see his new nephew, Freddy Gallagher. But Ian and Mickey broke up again.

Personality

Ian was concerned when Mickey plotted to kill Frank for discovering he was gay. Ian also warned Frank of the danger he was in, but heeded his father's words about his life. Ian was even present during Frank's hospital stay when it seemed he would die of liver failure, and even seemed sad. However, he returned to his usual reaction to Frank after Frank received a new liver and survived. After Frank ruined Fiona's wedding, Ian participated in throwing Frank off a bridge; he wasn't surprised to see him alive when he returned, and he didn't try to help him in his moment of pain. Ian also expressed pleasure at Frank's renunciation, until Frank took revenge by taking Liam and locking the family out of the house. This tension escalated to the point that Frank tortured him and Lip with a raccoon, and Frank started a new family, sending him away. Ian's anger softened when he introduced Trevor to Frank and still called Frank his father. However, his resentment remained, as he attempted to attack his father after he tried to return home, but soon relented and slowly forgave him when he helped Liam and fixed the house. Ian fully reconciled with Frank after seeing his grief over Monica's death and hearing him express pride in them despite their past. A month later, Ian was also surprised to see Frank making an effort to change and saved him and the rest of the family from an armed drug addict, realizing Frank had been holding him back from his attacks for years. While not entirely convinced, Ian was grateful for the rescue. He seemed to encourage Frank's actions and was pleased that he had made the effort to get closer to Liam. Despite this, Ian shows that he cares for Frank and was glad to see him happy when he turned his wedding around with Mickey. When Ian discovered Frank was suffering from dementia, he seemed concerned and no longer showed hostility toward him.

Personality

Ian isn't as smart as Lip, but he's physically fitter. Frank describes him as having an excellent work ethic in almost everything he does. He's often unsure of what he wants to do with his life, but once he sets a goal, he pursues it 100 percent. Ian is self-conscious about his bipolar disorder, which he inherited from his mother, and often feels inadequate because it prevents him from doing certain things. Sometimes he refuses to admit he has a problem when his condition forces him to deviate from his usual path. Ian gets along with all of his siblings, who knew about his sexuality long before he came out and accepted him despite everything. He's closest to Lip and Fiona, but gets along with his younger siblings and often helps protect them from Frank's influence. Ian was devastated by Samantha Slott's betrayal of the army, who told the army about his decision to go AWOL. However, he tried to distract Samantha's son, Chuckie Slott, from his misguided views in juvenile detention. Ian, like his siblings, resents his father, Frank, for his neglect and treatment of him since his mother, Monica, left them. For some time, Ian felt that his father despised him more than anyone else. However, he was very surprised to learn that Frank was not his biological father, but rather his uncle. After meeting his supposed father (Frank's brother), Ian decided to leave the subject aside and acknowledged that Frank is his father, just as Lip and the others are his siblings. Interestingly, Frank also claims that Ian is still his son, not disdaining his sexuality and accepting him no matter what, despite claiming to hate him.
