Ludwig invites Cuphead to perform in a music competition with a $10,000 prize.
However, it later turns out he never intended to include Cuphead in the contest. Instead, Ludwig appropriates the melody Cuphead composed, performs it himself, and wins the grand prize. This is precisely why he becomes the series' true villain.
At the end of the episode, a huge piano, which Mugman had previously set as a trap, falls on Ludwig. He is not seen again in the series after this. Fan wikis usually list him as dead, although in the animated series, this is depicted in a comedic manner.
