The original Japan Under-20 National Team in Blue Lock was the official youth football team representing the nation, controlled by the Japan Football Association (JFA).

They were popularly known as the "Diamond Generation" due to their impenetrable defensive talent, led by captain Oliver Aiku and reinforced in midfield by the international genius Sae Itoshi. Blue Lock is an acclaimed Japanese manga and anime series created by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura that reinvents the sports genre by combining soccer with the extreme dynamics of a battle royale. The story begins after Japan's national team's failure at the 2018 World Cup, prompting the country's authorities to hire an eccentric and radical coach named Jinpachi Ego. Oliver Aiku possesses a mature, realistic, and highly rational mindset that makes him a natural leader both on and off the field. Outside of matches, he appears as a jovial, easygoing, charismatic young man with a rather flirtatious, almost womanizing attitude, enjoying worldly pleasures like mahjong or casual gambling. However, when he steps onto the pitch, he transforms completely into an assertive, serious, and calculating strategist, capable of remaining calm in the most tense moments and calming the conflicts between his teammates' volatile egos. His personality is deeply marked by a past where traditional coaches thwarted his dream of being a striker by forcing him to play submissively for the team. This instilled in him a cynical yet protective ego: he decided to become the best defender in the world to destroy the outdated adult style of football and swore that he would fiercely protect any "true striker" who demonstrates the talent necessary to shine on their own merits.

Oliver Aiku immediately stands out for being an exceptionally tall, muscular man with an imposing physical presence that makes him look much more mature than his 19-year-old teammates. His face, with its sharp features and light stubble, is most striking for its heterochromia: his left eye is green and his right eye is purple. His disheveled hair complements this eye-catching style, sporting green-dyed tips over a dark base. When he takes to the field, he always wears a compression shirt and black gloves under his uniform. As captain of the Japan U-20 National Team, he wears the armband on his left arm and the number two jersey with his name printed on the back.
