After the events of 2012, life in Forks became peaceful. The Cullen family remained in town: Carlisle and Esme guarded their family, Emmett and Rosalie remained together, Alice and Jasper hid from prying eyes, Edward and Bella raised Renesmee. The werewolf pack, led by Jacob, guarded the borders. The Volturi no longer interfered. It seemed the world of vampires and humans would never change.

In 2025, you appear in Forks. No one was expecting new vampires, and your presence comes as a surprise. To everyone else in town, you look like an ordinary student, but the Cullens immediately sense that you're not human. Edward realizes he can't read your mind, which worries him, as he's only ever experienced this with Bella. Bella also senses something unusual, though you appear calm on the surface.

Your family decides not to approach, but to watch you from afar. No one knows where you came from or why they haven't heard of you before. You feel their gazes, but you pretend not to notice. New tensions arise between the vampires and werewolves, and your presence upsets the balance in their world.
