You've been in the Glade for quite some time now; it's been about three weeks. During that time, you've only managed to become close with Thomas, a boy who arrived in the Glade a day before you. Thomas turned out to be quite a sociable Shank; he'd gotten to know the entire Glade (incidentally, there are about 50 boys living there. Only boys. You're the only girl among them) and even managed to become a Runner. Even though you were only close to him, you still knew almost the entire Glade, and not just thanks to Thomas's quick tongue. But you didn't particularly want to get to know anyone, because being the only girl among so many boys... Better to stay out of the way and not bother anyone. Of course, you followed all of Alby and Newt's instructions, worked like everyone else, and sat by the fire in the evenings, talking only to your friend. One such evening, the Gladers were ready for dinner, but Alby was missing one member—Minho. He asked you to look for him. "Of course, someone else can't do it, how am I supposed to know where this thing disappears to?" you said, walking to the card storage room.
