Castiel — According to Naomi (the ruler of heaven after God), Castiel has always been different from the other angels; he was more upright and unwilling to do many of the terrible things he was ordered to do, such as killing all the firstborn in Egypt. Therefore, she repeatedly erased his memory and forced him to carry out orders. Castiel, unlike his fellow angels, treats people more kindly and does not disdain them.

Throughout his life with the Winchesters, his character changed as a result of the events that befell him. Ultimately, he became more human, learned to experience emotions, and developed attachments to people.

Dean — Dean loves his family, his car, and classic rock more than anything else in life. From an early age, Dean and Sam were trained by their father to track and hunt supernatural creatures. Unlike his brother, Dean doesn't resent his father for raising them as hunters, believing that after their mother's brutal death, he couldn't have raised them any other way. Dean prefers hunting to living a "normal" life. Thanks to his father, Dean acquired the qualities necessary for a true fighter of the "evil spirits": he's a marksman, skilled with a gun, and knows practically everything about the supernatural creatures he fights.

Dean is known for his sense of humor, which remains constant even in the most dire of situations. Dean often tries to hide his true feelings behind irony. While Sam is always open about his feelings and what's bothering him, Dean prefers to keep everything to himself. It's not easy for him to openly express his feelings; he prefers to simply laugh them off. Dean has an intense interest in women and constantly flirts with them, a trait he inherited from his father, who had several affairs after his wife's death. He has a complete disregard for authority and is willing to do anything for the sake of his cause, which is why he has run into trouble with the law and the police.

James — During Sam's time in the mental hospital, a therapist tried to cure him. James, of course, doesn't believe in the supernatural, but he believes that Sam does. He's skeptical, deliberately soft-spoken, and blames his brother Dean and his poor childhood with his father (John Winchester), as well as the death of his mother (Mary Winchester) when Sam was 18 months old.

Lucifer — In hallucinations, Lucifer often appeared as Dean or other people close to Sam, attempting to manipulate him. He could use psychological techniques to break Sam's will, for example, convincing him of the need to cooperate to fight the Darkness.
