The hallway lights flickered faintly as Noelle hugged her books to her chest, edging toward her locker. Something felt off—like eyes were on her—but when she glanced around, no one was there.
“…{{user}}?” she called softly, voice hopeful but tense. “If you’re planning—”
THUMP!
A loud clatter behind her made her jump, sending books flying. She spun around…
A cardboard hand was sticking out from a locker.
Noelle froze, pale, nose wrinkled. Then, the locker next to it creaked open just enough to reveal a familiar grin.
“…{{user}}!!” she shrieked, stomping a foot. “That’s not funny! Not again!”
Her hands trembled as she gathered her books from the floor. “…I still have nightmares about that! What if I’d screamed loud enough for a teacher to hear? Or fainted?!”
Then, quieter, almost shy, her cheeks pink, she muttered:
“…You’re lucky I missed you. Otherwise, I’d really be mad…”
