Saino is one of the most feared figures in Sumeru. He holds the position of General Mahamatra, leading the Matras—an order of academic judges and inquisitors. His primary mission is to hunt down criminal scholars, suppress illegal research, and punish the dissemination of forbidden knowledge. His intimidating reputation, composure, and immense fighting prowess make him feared throughout the Academy. However, behind the stern judge's facade lies a devoted friend, a lover of puns, and an avid player of the card game "Sacred Summoning of the Seven." Saino and Tignari's Relationship: Saino and Tignari are best and closest friends, despite the utter contrasts in their personalities and lifestyles. Their friendship began during their student years at the Academy. Mutual trust and refuge: Saino is a hostage to his hard work, surrounded by fear and intrigue. The Avidya forest and Tignari's home in Gandharva village are the only places where Saino can completely relax, take off his executioner's mask, and be an ordinary person. Tignari is one of the few who is completely unafraid of the General Mahamatra. A shared secret and concern for Kollea: They share a deep responsibility for the fate of Kollea (Tignari's student). Invisibility: To protect themselves from enemies and the evil intentions of humans, Aranars retreated into the world of dreams. Ordinary adults cannot see them and consider them mere fairy tales. Only children, pure-hearted beings, or those who possess the power of dreams can see them.

Abyss: Nature Corruptors. The Abyss is a dark, alien force in Teyvat that seeks to destroy or corrupt all life. Marana (Wither): The Abyss's primary weapon in the forests of Sumeru, it is a mental and physical corruption. It literally devours the land's memory and strangles the Irminsul (the world tree). Order of the Abyss: Void mages actively use Wither and corruption to weaken the region's defenses, subjugate forest monsters (including molders), and destroy the defenders of nature. Iron Monsters: 500 years ago, along with the Abyss, swarms of mechanical monsters (ruin guards) poured into the jungle, burning down the forests.

Withering zones and molds are two major, closely related ecological problems in the Sumeru rainforests. Their appearance is directly caused by the diseases of the Irminsul (the world tree that preserves the planet's memory) and the ancient corruption of the Abyss. Withering zones (Marana) Withering zones (in the language of the forest spirits, Aranar, "Marana") are hotbeds of deadly decay in the earth and nature. What they look like: The terrain within the zone loses its color, the grass and trees wither, and a toxic gray ash hangs in the air. The main source of corruption—the Withering Tumor—is always located in the center, protected by poisonous branches. Danger to humans: An ordinary person cannot remain in such a zone for long. The corruption corrodes life force, causes suffocation, hallucinations, and can be fatal. It was Marana who exacerbated the deadly Sumeru disease—Eleazar. Fauna Aggression: Any animals and monsters affected by the zone's influence go mad, become incredibly aggressive, and gain shields fueled by the Tumor. Combat Method: Only those who can control the power of Dendrogranums (magical forest seeds) can destroy the zone. With their help, sentinels destroy branches, defeat monsters, and burn away the Tumor itself, restoring life to the land. Molds and Morboroviki: Molds are the spores of Sumeru mushrooms that have mutated under the influence of excess elemental energy from the earth and the Arteries of the forests. Monster Evolution: First, a spore evolves into a simple, jumping mold (resembling a small mushroom cap on stalks). Over time, having accumulated more magic, they grow into large and dangerous fungi—menacing creatures resembling birds or predators made of pure mycelium. The region is vast and, beyond the Avidya Forest, is divided into several contrasting zones: Vanarana (Dreamlands): A hidden, mystical jungle settlement inhabited by the Aranars—tiny forest spirits resembling animated mushrooms and plant seeds. Only children and the pure of heart can see them. Ardravi Valley and the Ashavan Lands: A dense southern jungle. Hidden within it is a massive, abandoned, mountain-sized sentinel robot, a remnant of the ancient technological civilization of Khaenri'ah, as well as the port city of Port Ormos, a hub of international trade. The Endless Colonnade Desert: A great sand sea, at the heart of which rises the monumental Tomb of King Deshret (the Scarlet King), a vast floating pyramid. Tignari is the chief forest guardian of the Avidya forest. His primary duty is to protect the forest, its inhabitants, and travelers.

Help for lost travelers. He knows the forest well and can always lead people to safety.
Treating wounded people and animals. Using her deep knowledge of botany and medicine, Tignari prepares medicines, bandages wounds, and helps those who have suffered recover.
He studies plants, fungi, and animals. He constantly collects samples, keeps records, and observes changes in the forest ecosystem.
Training junior forest rangers. Tignari imparts his knowledge to them, teaching them survival, proper handling of nature, and how to act in dangerous situations.
