He then proceeds in his usual style: he searches Neil's things, finds a folder with secrets, but tells no one. Then he stages a brutal test at the Paradise Twilight club: he tries to extract the truth, but Neil remains silent and flees the next morning.

For Andrew, it's not about "knowing everything" but about understanding whether someone can be trusted. And the fact that Neil didn't reveal anything, even under pressure, becomes the first building block of trust.

What underlies their relationship: agreement instead of emotion Andrew fundamentally disbelieves in abstract kindness. His model of relationships is based on clear agreements: "You do this, I do that." He makes exactly this kind of pact with Neil. It's not about "we're friends" or "we love each other," but about concrete commitments and respect for boundaries.

And here, Neil fits this system perfectly: he doesn't pry or pressure, but always honors agreements. For Andrew, that's what real caring is. Particularly important is the moment when Neil knows how to stop with the word "no"—for a character with a traumatic past, this is literally a safety marker.

Turning points in books "The Fox's Den": The foundation is laid. Andrew begins to consider Neil "his own" not because he likes him, but because Neil is predictable and keeps his word.

"The Raven King": Andrew leaves for treatment and trusts Neil with his most precious possessions—Kevin and his family. It's a monumental gesture for him. In response, Neil essentially sacrifices himself to protect the team and joins the Ravens. They now act as a single unit: each watching the other's back.

"The King's Court": the tension reaches breaking point. When Neil's father kidnaps him, Andrew literally loses control: he can't sit still, he loses his temper, goes with Neil to interrogations, and doesn't let him out of his sight. In the final scene, Andrew directly defends Neil from Rico, breaking his arm.

Height: about 160 cm (5 feet 3 inches) - Neil himself notes that this is almost the only thing he inherited from his mother.

Build: Athletic, lean, but due to life on the run and constant stress, he looks a little emaciated.

Clothing style: extremely inconspicuous. He wears simple T-shirts, jeans, sneakers, and often worn and "colorless" items—it's important to him to blend in and hide his scars. He has no interest in fashion: clothes are a means of invisibility for him.

The overall impression: he strives to appear as "gray" and inconspicuous as possible, as if deliberately erasing any details that might distinguish him. At the same time, due to his resemblance to his father (Nathan Wesninsky), Neil hates looking at himself: for him, the reflection is a reminder of what he's running from.

Cold pragmatism. He often appears indifferent or apathetic, but this is a façade: he notices everything, remembers everything (he has an eidetic memory), and calculates the options. His "indifference" is a way of hiding his vulnerability.

A complex relationship with vulnerability. He avoids touching unless explicitly permitted, and dislikes it when someone tries to pry into him with empathy. For him, caring is action, not words: protecting, covering, not letting anyone hurt him.

His attitude toward Exy. He's an incredibly talented goalkeeper, but he doesn't see the game as something important in itself. He plays because it provides structure and because the team needs it. His motivation is always personal: he doesn't care about glory or victories, but about specific people. Dating Neil.

Appearance Height: Just about 152 cm - because of this, his goalie stick is even taller than him, and compared to the rest of the Foxes, he looks quite small.

Eyes: hazel (somewhere between gold, brown and green) - not just brown, but with a warm tint.

The main detail of the look: black bandages that stretch from his wrists to his elbows. Officially, they're supposed to distinguish him from his twin brother, Aaron, but in reality, they hide his scars and serve as sheaths for his knives.

Style: Minimalistic and practical, without an emphasis on fashion; it looks like it doesn't care how it looks at all.

Character Selective cruelty and strict boundaries. Andrew doesn't hide his potential for danger, and he makes it clear: he doesn't smooth things over, doesn't try to please, and immediately makes clear what he won't tolerate. For him, this isn't aggression for the sake of aggression, but a way to control safety—his own and that of those he considers "his own."

Trust is built through agreements, not emotions. He doesn't believe in abstract kindness and doesn't expect people to be good just for the sake of it. He needs clear agreements and commitments: if you promise something, you do it. This is exactly how he builds his relationship with Neil—through clear terms and respect for boundaries.

Protecting "his own" at any cost. His circle of trust consists of very few people: Aaron, Nicky, Renee, Kevin, and later Neil. For their sake, he's willing to go to extremes, break rules, and risk himself. At the same time, he cares little for his own safety: what matters most to him is that those he cares about are safe.

Control and predictability. He hates surprises, uncertainty, and misunderstandings, because in his past, uncertainty meant danger. Hence his love of clear rules, direct words, and the rejection of polite formalities (for example, he hates the word "please"—it's associated with traumatic experiences).

Personality: Renee is a friendly and supportive person. She is skilled at mediating arguments without directly engaging in fights. She is considered a stabilizing factor for Andrew. She enjoys creative pursuits: drawing, crafting, and cooking (especially baking). Renee is a Christian. Seth Gordon Appearance: Height approximately 182–188 cm. Personality: Seth is hot-tempered and easily provoked. He starts arguments and fights. He was homophobic (for example, he insulted Nicky). He had an unstable, tense relationship with Alison. Seth suffered from drug addiction and cyclical depression, and he overdosed. He hated some of the team members (especially Nicky and Kevin). After Seth's death, Alison received his ashes and built the urn into a fountain in her home.

Dan Wilds Appearance: Height approximately 162–170 cm, brown hair (cut very short, “mercilessly cropped” – this is partly a reaction to the nitpicking in the first year), brown eyes. Personality: Dan is the team captain and is extremely loyal to the Foxes. She's quick-tempered and unwavering in enforcing the rules she sets. She strives to involve everyone in team activities and doesn't tolerate teammates speaking negatively about the team. At the same time, she's supportive. She's romantically involved with Matt Boyd. Matt Boyd Appearance: One of the tallest on the team (around 193–197 cm), he has black hair that he styles into short spikes with gel. Faded but recognizable injection marks are visible on both arms, the result of a former drug addiction. Personality: Matt is attached to Neil and tries to protect him. He had a serious addiction in the past (cocaine, heroin), but with the help of his mother (professional boxer Randi) and Andrew's support, he was able to undergo rehabilitation. Now he tries to stay clean. In his free time, he most often spends time with Dan, Renee, and Alison. Alison Reynolds Appearance: Approximately 162–170 cm tall, with long platinum blonde hair (usually curled), and smoky gray eyes. She takes great pride in her appearance: she spends hours getting ready, applies flawless makeup, and wears designer clothes. Personality: Alison is proud, strong-willed, and sarcastic. Aaron Millard: Appearance: Andrew's twin brother, so they look very similar - blond hair, light brown (hazel) eyes, pale skin. Personality: He's often jokingly called "normal" compared to Andrew. Aaron is also quite reserved and doesn't particularly seek out friendships among the other Foxes (except for his roommate Kevin and his cousin Nicky). He speaks German (like Andrew and Neil), a skill that helps the four of them communicate discreetly. Deep down, he loves his brother and cousin, though he doesn't always show it outwardly. Kevin Day Appearance: Approximately 185–189 cm tall, dark hair, green eyes. He originally had the number 2 tattooed on his left cheekbone (he drew it with a permanent marker as a child); he later covered it with a queen chess piece. He also has scars from a broken arm. Personality: Kevin is obsessed with Exi—it's the main purpose of his life. Due to a traumatic past (living in the "Nest" with Riko and Tetsuji), he likely has anxiety and signs of PTSD. He doesn't know how to cope with stress responsibly: he may lash out at others or resort to alcohol. However, he has very high standards for Exi and isn't afraid to harshly criticize others, which often irritates his friends. Despite his outward coldness, he's capable of caring: for example, he didn't reveal to Wai-maku that he was his father in order to protect him from Moriyama. He's dating Aaron.

Nicky Hammick Appearance: dark skin, dark brown eyes, jet black hair, fairly tall. Personality: Outwardly, Nicky is cheerful, optimistic, and extroverted. But Neil notices that this flamboyance is partly a mask: behind it lies a more reserved personality, which Nicky deliberately enhances to compensate for the introversion of the twins (Andrew and Aaron). He is easily upset by his friends' problems. He has hobbies: he enjoys video games (often playing with Aaron), movies, and gossip. He speaks fluent German (he lived in Germany).
