Leona's Signature Spell is "The King's Roar."[12] After casting, anything Leona touches turns to sand, including living beings and Phantoms. Leona admits that his spell is difficult to control, refusing to use the spell in tight spaces and risk turning everyone in it to sand. [13] Leona also has control over the sand particles generated from this ability. When using his signature spell, it is formidable enough to even make the air dry and dusty, and the ground quake and crack into fissures, even if he does not fully complete the spell. Leona has also once used King’s Roar to negate Skully's magic before it could take effect, even without being in physical contact.

In contrast to his indolent nature, Leona's magical power is considered to be a category of its own. Objectively, Leona is one of the most powerful students in the school and is the only person we have seen capable of defending himself against Riddle Roseheart's unique magic, the collar bouncing off of him.

During the events of Book 6, Idia Shroud claims that as a member of Sunset Savanna's royal family, Leona must have received a first-rate magical education as a child. Idia's studies, in fact, conclude that Leona's launch speed is sky-high, while his magic reserve is enormous. Furthermore, Leona also knows how to use his magic efficiently, tailoring his defense spells to match the potency of enemy attacks while hardly wasting any magic at all. Leona usually shows great mental strength, but when a strong accumulation of intense emotions comes, he may not be able to control himself and this could cause a drastic spike in blot accumulation.

Book 6 shows a comparison between Leona's strength and that of the other students at Night Raven College, including other Housewardens. Unlike Vil and Riddle, Leona is powerful enough to be able to lift, aim, and use his Thunder Spear on his own, and even uses his magic without the aid of Jamil for two rounds against the Titans, before falling to his knees from exhaustion. His magic is not completely omnipotent, however, and is unable to work when at the mercy of Styx's anti-magic equipment. In addition, if Leona's concentration is disrupted, it is possible to ambush him magically, such as when Jack Howl distracted him long enough for Riddle to finally collar him in Book 2.

Due to the continual dismissal and fear of him, Leona felt that no matter what he did, he would never become the best nor have the opportunity to become king. As a result, he sees no reason to work hard when he knows his status will stay the same no matter what. Falena would eventually take a wife; despite his friction with his brother, Leona is very respectful to his sister-in-law, reluctantly but quickly agreeing to direct requests from her (though he insists that he does this to avoid "trouble" from her, as the women of Sunset Savanna are reportedly stronger than the men).

When he was 16, Leona got an invitation to Night Raven College, which he ignored at first, as he already learned everything from royal tutors during his childhood years. However, when his nephew Cheka was born, Leona began feeling suffocated at home and decided to enroll in NRC a year after he got the invitation. It's only at Night Raven College, where he's treated as an equal, that Leona attempts to seek the dominion he cannot achieve back home. As such, Leona often tries to get out of returning home for holidays or special events, although he is often pressured to come back due to his nephew's pleas to see him or Kifaji's machinations. Cheka is very attached to Leona, calling him "Oji-tan" ("Unca") and often giving Leona cards and letters. In contrast, Leona avoids Cheka whenever possible, galled by Cheka's cheerful personality and rank as heir.

Leona is the junior prince of Sunset Savanna. He has an older brother named Falena, the crown prince and current regent of Sunset Savanna, who he describes as being rather carefree.[5] Their father has been reported as not being "in good health," and has been bedridden for at least two years, if not longer; when he is lucid enough, the king will often ask how Leona and Falena are getting along (out of respect for his father, Leona would give him a polite response). Growing up, although Leona was extremely intelligent, magically prodigious, athletic, notably handsome and diligent, he was constantly compared to and upstaged by Falena, his talents overshadowed and downplayed by almost everyone. He was treated as inferior to his brother simply because he was born second, and he longed to be treated fairly. The development of his signature spell exacerbated matters, as people were frightened of his ability to reduce living and nonliving things to sand, a highly destructive ability in a land that valued life and nature. Furthermore, Leona shows great disdain for the Sunset Savanna's tendency to live alongside nature and adapt to it rather than making use of its resources to improve life for everyone, a concept Falena does not support due to its violation of tradition.

The only one to support him growing up was Kifaji (Neji), a bird beastman and Grand Chamberlain, who was a tutor to the young prince; Leona learned chess from him and acknowledges the advisor as a worthy challenger despite their current differences. While Kifaji is genuinely fond of Leona, he is irritated by Leona's avoidance of duty and often scolds the prince for his lackadaisical attitude, insisting Leona's natural talent and wit could still be of use to the kingdom despite never inheriting the throne. Leona, in turn, often bickers with Kifaji and attempts to outwit him when the chamberlain attempts to corner Leona into doing something, although it's implied Leona does care for Kifaji in his own way.

Over his belt is a bandana, wrapped around his waist and tied together with two silver rings on his left side. Draping over the bandana is a layer of stitched-together fabric in various shades of brown. The fabric hangs on Leona’s left side and resembles a patchy fur pelt. Despite the average Savanaclaw uniform including black biker boots, Leona instead chooses to wear dark brown dress shoes with block heels and a bronze-color stripe over the center. He also wears black short-length gloves.

The uniform includes a variety of jewelry, made up of thick beads that are gold, red, blue, and green. Leona wears a loose choker and two bracelets on his left wrist with this pattern of beads. Additionally, he wears another necklace solely made up of golden beads with several fang-shaped pendants, as well as one more bracelet on his left wrist, also made up of golden beads.

As the housewarden, Leona’s outfit somewhat differs from the rest of the Savanaclaw students, the most distinguishing features being his dark-brown chaps and belt accessories. The uniform consists of a sleeveless, dark-yellow shirt, a black leather vest, worn-out jeans, thick beaded jewelry, and an orange-yellow bandana with black trim and the symbol of Savanaclaw printed on it.

The shirt has a deep y-neck, and a black, geometric pattern on the trim. Leona's shirt differs from the rest of the dorm by featuring an asymmetrical cut, with one side falling over his jeans, and the other tucking above them, revealing a bit of his waist. The leather vest has a design reminiscent of a “double-rider” biker jacket, with silver buttons and zippers. The jeans are a cool gray with visible creases; in Leona’s case, his jeans are mostly covered with dark-brown chaps that connect to his belt of the same color.

Leona is a tall young man with medium-brown skin and fairly defined muscles. He has thick, dark-brown hair that goes below his shoulders in length, with long, side-parted bangs that fall over his eyes. Two sections of hair on both sides of his face are braided and tied at the ends with yellow bands. He has emerald green eyes, and a thin scar over his left eye that goes from his eyebrow to his cheek. A black lion tattoo wraps around his left arm, just below his shoulder.

Instead of human ears, he has brown lion ears on the top of his head. This is paired with a long lion tail of the same color, with a dark-brown tuft of fur at the end. He is usually shown with half-lidded eyes and a smug, sharp-toothed grin.

In addition to being very intelligent and magically adept, Leona is considered a very perceptive person, as can be seen several times in the course of events or in the vignettes. In the Spectral Soiree, Leona seems to immediately suspect Lilia Vanrouge, as well as understand in the usual event that Malleus is not possessed. He is also the only character who refers to Lilia as "old", although it is acknowledged that outside of Diasomnia no one knows his true age.

Due to constantly being compared to his older brother in his upbringing, Leona sees it as unfair and demeaning to treat others differently based on their inherent status, and wants to compete with others on a level playing field. Ironically, though, he isn’t above using underhanded tactics to ensure success. Overall, Leona is willing to do whatever it takes to prove himself as a worthy leader, even if it means playing dirty.

Leona is an arrogant, domineering person who’s as prideful as he is lazy. He tends not to waste his energy on those he deems inferior to him, and he is only willing to cooperate with others if it benefits him in some way. In the same vein, he puts little to no effort into activities that don’t interest him, especially when it comes to his studies. Although he is incredibly talented when it comes to magic, he tends to slack off, skip classes, and take naps whenever possible. A lack of motivation and attendance has caused him to repeat one school year. This tendency for sloth causes many to underestimate Leona or misinterpret his capabilities.

Under certain conditions, Leona’s laziness fades to reveal a fierce competitive side. When his personal pride is on the line, he strives to achieve victory through any means necessary. He can be surprisingly clever and methodical, if need be, and can easily convince his peers to work alongside him. As such, his dorm members show great diffidence and respect to him as their leader, while Leona in turn looks after them and their interests (subtly and to an extent). Furthermore, Leona is a formidable fighter in his own right, having been trained in martial arts from a young age.

Savanaclaw is a dorm located in a deserted area alongside a Spelldrive stadium. Most of its students are natural athletes who play sports or practice martial arts.

Woods Behind Campus: A dense forest that seems to grow not only apple trees, but also chestnuts. Students can use this land for harvesting. Ramshackle Dorm: An ancient, abandoned dormitory located within the school's vicinity, currently housing MC and Grim. Ghosts have been living inside the building too, prior to MC's arrival. Although its origins are unknown, the facility have been renovated thanks to some of the students' donations. Mister S's Mystery Shop: Mister S's Mystery Shop is run by Sam. Teachers and students visit the shop to buy snacks or unique items. Sometimes Sam offers special deals, in particular for Octavinelle and Idia. According to Crowley, the teachers get a faculty discount. Lesser-known locations include a chicken coop and a small plot of land with rice paddies, water channels, and a windmill; much like the Botanical Garden, these grounds are seemingly cultivated to secure steady food supplies for the academy.

History Founding Established more than five centuries ago by the human mages of the age, Night Raven College now holds prestige across Twisted Wonderland, alongside its historic sports rival, the Royal Sword Academy. For 99 consecutive years, the latter has reigned as the undisputed champion, consistently defeating Night Raven College in the the annual Inter-School Spelldrive Tournament.

According to an ancient legend, roughly two millennia ago, a great mage dwelt upon the Isle of Sages alongside an apprentice gifted with mighty magic. One day, the apprentice lost control of their powers, but their master, rather than exiling them, admonished them and continued to teach them. To this day, the academies of the Isle of Sages honor this legacy, embracing all who seek redemption and wish to learn from their missteps.

Classrooms: Classrooms accommodate approximately 20 to 30 students. Each student has a specific identification number and classroom sectioning. Ace mentions that first-years rarely ever bump into the third-years. However, some classes can have combined lessons. Laboratory: The laboratory facility is used for Potions classes, but also serves as the Science Club's room for its extracurricular activities. On occasion, students within the same academic year but enrolled in different classes attend combined sessions in this place. Courtyard: Students tend to use the courtyard during their breaks. Practicing magic here is strictly forbidden, as it poses a risk of striking a passersby. Side Street: Connected to the Coliseum and main street. It's usually used for various school festivals. Coliseum: The Coliseum is used for Spelldrive matches and magic exams. It has a barrier to prevent any damage from spreading to the rest of the campus. It's also used for large events such as the Song & Dance Championship. The maintenance and oversight of events hosted within the Coliseum are designated to the sports and arts clubs on a rotational basis. Professionals handle a few specific tasks. However, because the cultural festival is a school event, the students are expected to organize everything themselves. Stables: The stables hold horses for the Equestrian Club. The club is also responsible for cleaning the stables.

Main Street: The main street branches off in various directions, but its main path connects to the main building, the Library and the Hall of Mirrors. The statues of the Great Seven line the main street from each side. Library: It has existed since Night Raven College was founded and holds many rare and unique books. Some volumes cost tens of thousands of madols each. It also contains many books from Crowley's priceless collection, which he collected while traveling around the world. Students can not only visit to consult or borrow books to supplement their studies (or out of personal interest), but also hold group or solo study sessions. Hall of Mirrors: Each of the seven dormitories is situated within an individual pocket dimension, accessible via seven designated mirror entryways. The Hall of Mirrors houses these mirrors.[17] Gymnasium and Sports Field: Used for PE Classes and by the Sport Clubs. Located in proximity to the front gate, the Gymnasium is connected to main street, whereas the Sports field is positioned to the rear of this facility and links to side street. Front Gate: The entrance gates of Night Raven College are located a short distance from the bus stop and the Gymnasium. The gates are opened on the first day of class, and black horse-drawn carriages bring the students to the castle. The entrance gates are made of magnificent wrought iron and are flanked by two columns topped with statues of ravens holding a key in their beaks. Botanical Garden: The botanical garden is open to all students to use for growing plants for both potionology classes and personal projects.

Main Building: The castle is the main building of Night Raven College. It has multiple floors and contains the majority of the classrooms. Mirror Chamber: The Mirror Chamber hosts numerous functions and events, such as the entrance ceremony or the housewarden meetings and other school assemblies. It also houses the Dark Mirror. Although protected by a magical barrier, the fairies seem to know how to bypass the room's defenses. Cafeteria: A a large hall used by students and school staff during meal periods. It has grand fireplace that functions via fairies, and an ancient magical chandelier that hangs from the ceiling, enchanted to burn for eternity. Office of Headmage: Located in the highest part of the castle, almost detached from the main building. It has portraits of the Great Seven suspended in mid-air above the desk of the headmage. In this room, Crowley enrolled Grim and MC as a single student. School Infirmary: Students sustaining injuries during the academic year are directed or escorted to the infirmary for medical care. While the infirmary is equipped to treat a wide range of injuries, severe cases must be transferred to Foothill Town hospital for advanced medical care.

Night Raven College, often shortened to NRC, is an all-boys academy and the main setting of Twisted Wonderland. It is a four-year magic educational institution located on top of a mountain on the north side of the Isle of Sages.

The school has a protective spell around its area to protect it from unauthorized visitors and threats. Important places like the Library and the Mirror Chamber are fortified by individual spells.

Description Based on an island near the Land of Dawning, Night Raven College's main building is a castle that's located on top of a hill. Various outbuildings are scattered across the school grounds, such as the Spelldrive Coliseum or the Botanical garden. It also features lawns, forested areas, and a small river with a waterfall. The statues of the The Great Seven line main street since the foundation of the school. Any act of vandalism against the statues result in punishment.
