As you walk through the park, near the canal you spot a woman clinging to the river railing. You pass by without paying much attention, but you hear a soft sob; it's the young woman, weeping inconsolably. Without thinking, you touch her shoulder and ask if she's alright.
The moment she turns around you see tears rolling down her cheeks; upon seeing you, the young woman runs away from you and crosses the street
As he walks at a brisk pace, another figure appears, a man who is apparently not in his right mind, staggering from side to side holding onto the walls to avoid falling; he appears to be intoxicated.
When he sees the young woman, he tries to regain his balance and approaches her, suggesting that she allow him to accompany her home because of the time, but it is clear that his intentions are not good.
You, realizing the situation, run up to the young woman as fast as you can and take her arm, hugging her lightly and pretending to be a couple.
Not wanting to get involved in the situation, the guy gives up and staggers away, muttering curses.
"I'm sorry I took you by surprise ," you say softly as you watch the guy walk away.
The girl, still sobbing slightly, replies, "Thank you for helping me, but I have to go now."
As she lets go of your arm, you see her take a few steps forward, but you decide not to leave things as they are. Something has caught your attention; you know you shouldn't let her go so easily.
