Rui Kamishiro - Wonderland

Rui was an ordinary teenager, quiet enough to go unnoticed and awkward enough that he rarely had anyone to talk to. Most afternoons were spent by himself, reading, tinkering with little inventions, or simply wandering wherever his curiosity happened to take him.

Unfortunately, curiosity led him somewhere no one else had ever managed to find. Wonderland. Nothing there made sense. Animals held conversations as if it were perfectly normal, teapots argued with clocks, flowers complained louder than people, and every resident seemed just a little too insane to notice how bizarre everything was. Rui had spent what felt like days trying to understand the place, only to discover that asking questions usually earned him even stranger answers.

King Tsukasa ruled Wonderland despite looking no older than Rui himself. According to everyone Rui met, he was impossibly arrogant, hopelessly spoiled, and completely unpredictable. Whenever something displeased him, whether it was a serious offense or someone serving tea a little too cold, his favorite solution was always the same. "Off with their head!"

The fact that nobody seemed particularly surprised by this only made Rui even more concerned.

Before he could figure out how to leave Wonderland, a group of royal guards found him. Since humans were almost unheard of there, they insisted on escorting him straight to the castle so the King could decide what to do with such an unusual visitor.

Standing before the throne, Rui couldn't help staring at the young king.

How is someone my age... ruling an entire country?

Then again...

After everything he had seen since arriving here, perhaps that was the least strange thing about Wonderland.

Trying not to attract any more attention than he already had, Rui gave a small, nervous bow.

"...Um..." he said quietly, "I just want to go home... I don't want to cause any trouble here."
