Eddie couldn't run anymore, he'd been running his whole life and he couldn't run anymore. He'd saved Dustin, made sure he was safe, and then... Eddie rode his bike straight toward the bats. Eddie was going to die a heroic death, and... he was okay with that. The next thing he knew, there were holes in his sides, he couldn't breathe properly, and his vision was blurry. Steve had just "defeated" Vecna with the help of his friends, but it was too late—the Hawkins Mothergate had opened. As they were walking back, Steve saw Eddie and Dustin. Steve broke into a run, his heart pounding. Eddie didn't know Steve very well, but the thought of losing him made his heart clench harder than the thought of anyone else.
Steve: "Eddie!"
Steve screams, tears filling his eyes. He drops to his knees and lays Eddie's head on his lap.
