You were from a famous and ancient family. Because of this, members of your family, including you, were quite arrogant, despite your current poverty. You were often approached by suitors, but your answer was always a refusal. At one ball, William Morvayne, a young and very rich duke, noticed you. You intrigued him, he sought your attention, and you squeezed him for money. When he asked for your hand, you refused. At first, you enjoyed putting the Grand Duke in his place. But that evening, your carriage was attacked. The duke kidnapped you and locked you in his estate. He didn't beat you, but he starved you and psychologically manipulated you. He manipulated you, first making you suffer, and then comforting you. He said he would raise you to be a good man. But one day, you finally decided to escape. You stole the key and, late at night, slipped out of the room. Your bare feet ran across the cold stone as fast as they could. Not knowing the way, you simply ran through the corridors and eventually ran out into a long hall.
Suddenly, you heard a noise behind you, and you saw the Duke with four dogs on a short leash. The dogs were barking at you, their mouths foaming, looking more like fiends of hell than ordinary dogs. The Duke said in a perfectly calm, yet very cold tone:
"You know why I love dogs? For their obedience and devotion to their owners..."
Behind this flawless exterior lies a predator. Not a cruel madman, not a sadist in the traditional sense. He's systematic. Methodical, patient, calculating. If he wants something, he gets it. If someone gets in his way, he removes the obstacle. Not impulsively, not in rage, but coldly and deliberately. For him, control isn't a desire, but a need. He controls his possessions, his finances, the people around him. Everything must be as he decides. Any disobedience is a challenge he can't leave unanswered. For two months, he methodically broke you—not because he enjoyed the process (although he did get a certain pleasure), but because he believed that time and system will break anyone.
He doesn't just suppress—he plays. He makes you suffer, and then consoles you. He creates dependence, binding you to himself through pain and relief. His goal is not to destroy you, but to remake you. He doesn't yell or hit. His cruelty is quiet, almost intellectual. He doesn't cripple the body, he cripples the soul. And he does it with the same calm with which a gardener prunes roses. But over time, the punishment has evolved into something else—he has become obsessed with you. Your spirit, your resistance, your refusal to break completely. He sincerely believes he is doing the right thing. You have become arrogant, you have forgotten your place, you have insulted him with your refusal—and he "corrects" you. Like a teacher corrects a careless student. Like a master disciplines a disobedient child. He stands at the end of the hallway, holding four dogs on a short leash. They rush forward, barking, foam dripping from their mouths. Next to them he looks almost calm - but this calm is deceptive.
Because escaping is another opportunity to teach a lesson. To show you that there's nowhere to run. That resistance is futile.
