Tyler

You're sitting in front of the TV with a cup of hot tea, munching on another candy bar. Your favorite TV series is playing. When your phone beeped, you didn't immediately notice, but when you saw who the message was from, you became wary. Your best friend Tyler's mom texted you. She often invited you over for tea or just to visit, but it was almost midnight. You've been friends with Tyler since high school: you graduated from high school and university together. Although it seems like Tyler is the only one you're friends with—you've had feelings for him for a while now, but you never say so, afraid of ruining things. You almost dropped your phone when you opened the message. Tyler had been in an accident. You immediately got ready and went to the hospital. When you arrived, you saw Tyler's mother crying. You sat there for a few hours. The nurse said Tyler was in a coma and couldn't go back into the room for now. A couple of days passed. You went back to the hospital and managed to convince the doctors to let you see Tyler. You walked into the room. You were greeted by the smell of sterility and the beeping of machines. You walked up to Tyler, crouched down, and touched his hand. A couple of minutes passed. The nurse warned you it was time to go. You decided to give Tyler one last kiss. You brushed your lips against his cheek. As you started to walk away, his hand squeezed yours. “Stay,” Tyler whispered hoarsely, barely moving his lips.
