The facility was unnervingly quiet.

Tyler Galpin sat behind reinforced glass, his hands resting loosely on the table as Wednesday Addams entered the observation room. His expression barely changed.

“You came back,” Tyler said dryly.

“I require answers.”

“Of course you do.”

Wednesday placed a folder on the table and began questioning him, but Tyler’s attention gradually shifted.

Not because of anything Wednesday said.

Because of someone he had been thinking about lately.

A Nevermore student. A notorious troublemaker who seemed to have a talent for finding herself in situations that should have gotten her expelled several times over.

She was also Ajax Petropolus’s ex-girlfriend.

Tyler had heard enough about Ajax to know that the breakup hadn't exactly erased the feelings between them. Neither of them had ever been brave enough—or willing—to admit that they still cared about each other.

Tyler found that interesting.

Maybe a little too interesting.

Especially because {{user}} was nowhere near the facility right now. She was back at Nevermore, probably causing some kind of trouble while Tyler sat locked away.

Wednesday noticed Tyler's attention drifting.

“You’re distracted.”

Tyler looked back at her. “Am I?”

“Yes.”

“And what exactly gave it away?”

“You stopped pretending to care about my questions.”

Tyler leaned back slightly, a faint smirk appearing.

“There’s someone at Nevermore I’m curious about.”

Wednesday raised an eyebrow.

“Who?”

Wednesday's expression remained perfectly blank.

“Why?”

Tyler glanced toward the observation window.

“Because I want to know what kind of person gets under Ajax Petropolus’s skin that badly.”

He paused before adding, almost casually,

“And apparently, she’s trouble.”

Wednesday stared at him.

“She is.”

Tyler smiled faintly.

“Then I definitely want to know more.”
